Thread: Correct tense in questions

Sometime ago I was told that:
kahve ister misin? is better than kahve istiyor musun?

But in a recent thread I have read:
beni özlüyor musun?

Is there any rule as to whether to use the present continuous tense or the aorist tense when asking questions?

So the translation of:
"Why were you barking?" I asked her.

would be:
"Neden havlıyorsun?" ona sordum.

Is that right???

No. You ask something /i/ to someone /a/.
So: Ona soruyu soruyorum - I ask (to) her/him (dative) the question (object, so accusative).

That sort of makes sense :-S

But why is diye included here???

when we sign in we actually have to click go with the mouse.. if we could just click enter i think it would be better

Yeah - I have been meaning to suggest this for ages!!!

Seems the whole site has been written without thought for people who prefer to use the mouse (or other pointing device) as little as they can - changing a few tab orders would help lots!
