It is impossible to say what Turkish men are like as it is impossible to say what French men or German men are like!!!!

Thank you - yes I am sure that I will learn......
Just at the moment, as soon as I think I understand something I find that actually I have very little idea about it at all

Then daily there are new things that I find I have to learn about that make the journey even more arduous......just this morning I found there are Apocopating Nouns in Turkish that one day I have to learn!!!

Yes - that explains it better

-li is used for a property of a noun (such as 'stripy') whereas -ik is used for an irreversible process that has happened to a noun (such as 'burnt') - is that a fair description???

I've never even heard of -li and it is not listed on http://www.dnathan.com/language/turkish/tsd/

What I am really looking for is a rule as to when to apply which suffix for changing nouns into adjectives - that was just one example.

Sorry - I was wanting "çizgi" as the noun for "stripe"

çizgi - stripe
demlik - teapot

çizgik demlik = stripy teapot?
But does it require the -ik suffix?
