İğde is a a kind of fruit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olea_oleaster It says wild olive- or feral olive.

The shop round the corner promised me that he will bring keçi boynuzu   too..

Keçi boynuzu  is translated as goat horn but actually it is nothing to do with the goats. It is carob tree pods.

Interestingly when I was looking for a picture, what I learnt is that the weight of the seeds you get from these pods never changes. The seeds used as weight by Arabs, Selcuks and Ottomans. 16 seeds were making a "dirhem" (1 dirhem =3.2 grams)

We have a Turkish phrase "2 dirhem 1 cekirdek". It is used for people who wear make up or smart clothes. Cekirdek means seed. That cekirdek is the seed of the goat horn I was talking about in the beginning

I could be one I guess. Then I would wait a woman to save me from that life

You have to be  careful about the "honour killing". I am sure you can imagine the situation like ´ one of the clients falls for you and she happens to be a  quite posessive woman and she tells you to stop and you can NOT because you need money and the woman goes " you are either mine or you are dead" and  shoots you and then shouts back "I cleared my honur" as she walks away between two policemen!!´

This is a follow up in this story.

It says that 2000 men contacted  Sevkat-Der last week and asked questions about the employment opportunities.

This character refers to himself/herself as Turkish too frequently.

Other Turks appear to be more modest; none brags this often.{#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

We have two teams in European Cup quarterfinals. No doubt we give others inferiority complexes.

Not every Turk suffers from inferior complex.. There are many of us out there living like any body in the world without feeling either superior or inferior to anybody. Many of us out there who dont think Turkish teams success is a reason to feel  superior..{#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

I would welcome the idea If she was somehow a strict muslim and i would feel happy about it. I never hide what I think about religions but I dont go and insult people because of what they think or belittle them because of their religious views. This shows that you can be friends and respect eachother without trying to change eachother. A woman wearing a veil does not scare people in western countries generally or people dont look them down or think they  somehow belong to an inferior class.   But somepeople in Turkey, who think they are modern because they look western, feel that way.

Although it looks quite stupid and laugable to use spiderman as a converted to Islam  and a praying muslim for school kids, the idea behind it or the individuals who came up with this idea is quite scary and somehow unhealty.

We Turks have many of our own cartoon characters  like Kara Murat, Malkocoglu , Tarkan. Why do we need some foreign cartoon  heros? And why do we need them converted to islam?

I think it is partly "inferior complex"..
