Thread: History in making!! Peace at Last?

There are always some people who dont want peace, people who panic and get worried if the word ´peace´ is mentioned.

I think there used to be alot of these people in Turkey and they thought "not wanting the peace" was "normal".  There are still many out there but their number is less than before.

I think that is the main reason why we  have a  peace prospect after all those years..

One million people are in newroz meeting in Diyarbakir.

Kurdish MPs are reading the message from Ocalan. To armed guerrillas :" leave your weapons and leave Turkey".  To the people : "A new Turkey, a new Middle east, a new feature. No more weapons".

I wish I was there.

The school is still there Yelow and black colors still fly. Any one can check the story...even by telephone.

Why dont you tell us stories from your own ancestors ? You still keep that shiny French uniform of your grand father ?

That is what I meant earlier..

This is the other step : Accusing others from being another nation as if other nations are not worthy.

Two soldiers´ picture seems to be a fake picture. Why dont you accept it and apologise.

As I said, we Turks dont need anything FAKE to be proud of ourselves.. Abit of knowledge in our history would be enough.

That is what I meant when I was saying  ´the need of boasting´.

This is a Turkish website and it says the picture is a fake picture. Actually the picture was mentioned as a fake picture long time ago.

The lesson:

We Turks, dont need fake pictures to be proud of our past!!

We certainly dont need unnecessary sentimentality. Because there is no limit to it!!  This boasting does not stop with simple boasting, the next step in this process is to look  around and check any Turks who are not trembling with the emotions and accuse them being unpatriotic!!

Thank you Abla. I cant say we got over the traumas that WW1 brought. We are more confident now. But people easily remember WW1 and how Europe was our enemy when something bad happens in international relations.

This poem´s language is old. It is not easy for teenagers to understand it. But this poem keeps its popularity in the minds of conservative people. I am not conservative. I like it because of its rhytime and feelings it gave. It really effects me when I listen to it.

The traumas our ancesters went true effected everything. Paranoia, inferiority complex,  not being able to see ourselves equal with the world etc etc.. Even with Canakkale, it is like as if wee need these days to repair our broken pride. Though we did not let allied armies through Dardanels at the time, but in the end, allied forces came to Istanbul later on.

As a die hard fenerbahce supporter, I have to agree with Si++ here..

It is such a shame that a club like fenerebahce somehow convicted of match fixing and bribing.. Fenerbahce should get rid of that president who brought that shame on us.

Nevruz celebrations start with festive atmosphere across Turkey

Hundreds of people who gathered in Zeytinburnu were allowed into the celebration area after they were checked by security personnel.

Nevruz, a spring festival traditionally marked in the second half of March with a highly symbolic meaning for Kurds in Turkey and the Middle East, began to be celebrated peacefully across various Turkish cities on Sunday.

In a departure from the violent incidents that have taken place in previous years, there has been no violence in this year´s Nevruz celebrations in İstanbul´s Zeytinburnu district organized by the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).

Hundreds of people who gathered in Zeytinburnu were allowed into the celebration area after they were checked by security personnel. The crowd later began celebrating Nevruz with traditional Kurdish folk songs and dances.

The Nevruz celebrations commenced in 18 provinces on Sunday, including İstanbul, Adana, Ankara and Mersin, all of which have large Kurdish populations. The BDP will next hold celebrations in 45 other provinces across Turkey before March 21. However, the only Nevruz event that will take place on that day -- the specific day of Nevruz -- will be in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

Independent Mardin deputy Ahmet Türk, who was among the first group of deputies to visit the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers´ Party (PKK) as part of the current peace talks, has said he expects commanders of the terrorist PKK to declare a cease-fire against Turkish security forces before March 21.

=================

The peace is coming this time hopefully.

I think everything will change once the peace is established.

All I say is Newroz Piroz be*

*"Newroz Piroz be" is  a Kurdish Phrase. It is something like ´Happy nevroz´ or ´let the fire on nevroz live forever´
