Quoting CANLI:

Btw,this one should be in off the topic thread,i don't know why posting it here Elisa ?!

I doubted for a sec where to post it. I decided to put it in the language section because I thought it was too much related to language to make it an off-topic thread.

Anyway, I suggest to you all to forget about this thread because I never intended to start this kind of nasty discussion

Elisa you posted an interesting topic in the correct forum. It was someone else who turned it nasty.I have long been fascinated by the english interpretation of turkish names. I know two turkish girls( purely platonic off course ) who's names are Şebnem and Gamze which mean dew and dimple in english. Is this the correct turkish interpretation?

I get it - its pretty offensive. I did PM the sender asking if it was directed at me. The answer I got? "It's a mistake, umm where are you from, umm do you wanna webcam with me?"

Nice.....

I love the name Can (meaning soul/life). It is also my Unlce's name but he moved to England and you will guess what trouble is has with his name in England but he just tells people to call him John because in the end he was fed up of people representing him with a tin lol but he sees the good side of things on it.
My cousin was named after him but to save the trouble with Can again they spelt in Jun

Do you know if Canı is the female version of it? Or maybe it's not turkish but kurdish..anyhow I'm just asking because that's what my inlaws who don't speak english call me.

I thought it read Cani at once looking at it! . Canı means life as a name but female version. Canan is also a female name and means beloved
