I think they are saying in the first message(in proper English)..

"Hi what are you up to, anything good? Get back/reply "

Get back to me= reply to me

owt= anything

also if people say 'nowt' it is slang for "nothing"

It is frustrating when people don't use proper English, text language is taking over

1st one - Hi babe, what are you up to? Any thing good? Get back to me.

2nd one - Hi babe, what are you up to? Any thing nice? Get back to me.

This looks like mobile phone language unfortunately!

sorry cyrano - even repeating it aloud didn't work - i guess u could do with some native english speakers' help here :-S
I see you got answers - see that's why no matter how well u learn a language - only a native could be able to tackle with something like this

Yes, she looks as if she is from Yorkshire. The chances are that she is a Southern English girl?

Thank you for your contribution. You made me smile. As I said before, you have a good sense of humour.

Ha ha ha!..

Roxanne is your girlfriend Cyrano? I think from the dialect she is Yorkshire. Southern girls don't say "owt" and "nowt"

That's what I guessed from the region dialect you defined. And obviously I made up "Southern" since I didn't know if Yorkshire is in the southern region. But I think, if we urge the conditions, we will probably have her idendified and even reach her postall adress!

By the way, yes, Roxanne is my girlfriend, but not "she".

You won't believe me but that's what I was expecting. Sorry, I couldn't manage to express it correctly. I was trying to say:

Roxanne is my girlfriend while "she", who sent those messages to me, is not.

If you talk lots to people who talk like that (I have a friend from scotland), you'll see the fun of it. I like those changings in language, they show flexibility and life in language, which is exactly the beauty in it.. BUT.. it must not take over 'normal' language.

And if u learn lots of those phrases you'll see there are lots of funny things in it!

deli kızın,

As you probably know, making mistakes in language is not bad thing even if it sometimes become funny. If only I could make too much more mistakes.

Cyrano I think this is the MOST you have ever said about yourself! You have made...let me see...261 posts on this website and you have never told us about you, or expressed any real opinion, other than your love of music and poetry. That would be impossible for an opinionated person like me!!Believe me, with some of our messages, which you kindly translate, I would find it hard not to express my opinion. But I should not tease you for being a better person than me, eh?

Ah Cyrano I understand it.

It confused me as Roxanne is a very popular girls name -as in "Roxanne" the song by Police.

Chris,

A good determination about me! You are right, I don't tell of myself. There are two main reasons of this. First one is I don't like to tell of myself much. I think one should be able to known from their writings(posts) and their using languages; I mean someone's post here must give its readers a good clue about them, and at this point there is no need to especially/directly tell of oneself. I sometimes have been reading such posts of people which starts with "I am this",or "I am also that",or "I am interested in these" etc. I personally find such posts ridiculous. The second reason is, I can't express myself and/or my opinion in English yet. That's why I never attempt to do that.

As for not commenting about your messages that I translate, it would not be a good behaviour to comment about the personel relationships. All I have to do is to only translate them, beyond this doesn't interest me. And I respect relationships whether I applaud them or not.

By the way, you can tease me in English, too, like others can do. I don't take that offence.

Come on, Chris! I consider myself as a little child in English and you musn't be sure so much about me. Just think about my large nose, for example. We all eventually are equal.

(Hey, wait!.. you tease me? He he!..)

No Cyrano, for once I was not teasing you. I think it is a good quality (which I lack) to remain silent when you could easily criticise. However, I realise that your silence must result from your big nose which must be a great burden to you. Still, you know the adage? Big Nose, Big.....................FEET!

I am so sorry Chris! Believe me, to criticise someone is the last ability for me that I can do in english. Why don't you think how I can critise someone while I can't even manage to make a joke. I am really sorry! You look you misunderstand me.
But as I said, I am an only a child in your language. And I sometimes don't know how to behave.

Sorry again.
