Quoting vineyards: Femme fatal I don't know what super civilized environment you live in but I really don't appreciate to be likened to Stalin. Furthermore, there is a very big difference between criticizing and insulting.
Would you appreciate if I included a nasty joke about Borat raving about Kazakh ways. So, please read carefully before making such absurd analogies. |
pleaseeeeeeee, dont threaten me with BORAT, i rather like HIM.
my civilized environment is me myself!
you and mltm should read my post more carefully, because i didnt compare ataturk to stalin, i compared the cults (made by people).
well in those old times you'd be sentenced to a death insulting/criticising mr stalin(pbuh).
and for the words : criticize and insult. i think you turks take everything critical regarding aataturk as an insult, which is not healthy. just because ataturk isnt God.
never before on TC i read an insult on him. so what is the problem?

Quoting vineyards: Are Bush and Blair national heroes? Do you know what hypocrisy is? Do you know the difference between insulting and (well as you say) bashing? |
ne?
ask any british here about blair: you'll here insult as much as you wish.
bush? ask catwoman and other americans.
what does hypocrisy have to do with our talk?
we talked about criticizing and insulting. and i explained my point that you turks take as an insult everything negative (be it on your country or your traditions or your faith or your leaders).
over.

Quoting vineyards: Well then femme, about reading posts carefully. You were answering my post and making a reference to Stalin when the purpose of my original post was to remind that insults directed to Ataturk are punishable in Turkey. What kind of connection did you establish with Ataturk being the God of Turkey. It is clear that all your reasons are personal and your conclusions are irrelevant. We don't need to post any messages if you can create subjects and answer them all by yourself. Why don't you start a new topic casting your doubts about Turkish people not being normal in their approach to their national heroes. |
well,
im wellcomed to the club of turkish haters!
WE? are you not one?

Quoting vineyards: Insulting Ataturk is a constitutional offense in our country and this matter is deemed in the purview of the Grand National Assembly which is the only legislative body in Turkey. We do not make laws based on the wishes or suggestions of the citizens of other nations no matter how much better they think they know how national heroes should be commemorated.
For example, I wouldn't suggest a UK citizen to do something to abolish monarchy and nobility in their country no matter how ridiculously outdated those concepts are in this century.

Thats good!!!!

Quoting vineyards: That particular message was for teaschip1 |
then as a correct poster you are supposed to quote teaship1 or start your post with her nickname, so it would be clear to us all.

Vineyard, obviously you missed my point. I never referred to Bush or Blair as National hereos, nor do I believe "Ataturk" is a national hereo. My point was if insulting Ataturk is a crime in Turkey, there are plenty of Turkish citizens who are hyprocitical about not respecting other world leaders. So it's wrong to insult "Ataturk" but ok to insult other leaders. In my world bashing is a form of insulting. Not sure how else to explain in laymens terms to you.
