Quoting aenigma x: Quoting teaschip1: Like I said we all have our opinions KeithL. In Turkey he maybe a "National hereo". However, in other countries you may get a different opinion. I still think you have missed my point regarding "insulting". hmmm |
Just interested TC, what is this "different opinion". Seems he's pretty much a hero in most countires that I know of |
Well let's see, I just asked a few professionals here at work. Sorry, no one even knew who he was. But heck that could just be an American self indulgent thing. You know we are only taught American History in our schools. So closed minded are we Americans.

but just to clarify, if a group of a few Americans are not aware of someone's existence, they couldn't possible be important....

I don't hide that I lived in America 20 years. I love America. But I am also embarassed by how often Americans think that America is the center of all existence on this planet.

And a Turk who would make the comment that George Washington was not an Americn hero would would receive the same reaction from me...

You made that statement, not me KeithL. It's also not a few Americans, you expect everyone to know who "Ataturk" was. I'm afraid your sadly mistaken by this. Once again, off the subject from my original post here. But hey what can I expect from the most educated classmate here.
Thanks for your powerful wisdom and enlightment. I will be sure to pass your wisdom on to us uneducated few Americans who don't recognize that Ataturk was a National Hero. How could our government deprive us of this most important information.

That is exactly the opposite of what I think. I don't care who knows the history of Ataturk. I simply stated you know nothing of Turkey or its history if you can so matter of fact state that Ataturk is not a national hero here.
If you state that 10+10=30, be sure, I will correct you on this too.
