I love how people tend to read between the lines of the posts without understanding them fully. If you read my original post, yet no one has tried to even answer it. Just because I don't agree with you that he is a National Hero so to speak, doesn't give you the right once again to put words in my mouth. I do realize that TURKEY finds him to be a "National Hero", I never disagreed with this and respect their loyalty to him. However, when you give someone the title of "National Hero" that indicates he was a hero not only in Turkey but to the whole nation. My original question was why I found it so ironic to hear other Turkish classmates criticize other leaders, when it's illegal to critiize their own National Hero. I would think they would show the same respect. I guess mostly because there are no reprucutions. Bye the way KeithL, I never claimed to be an expert. You may want to reread my original post with grapevine. Bye the way, I also don't find George Washington a "National Hero". Maybe a hero to America........

Sorry to disagree TC, but "national hero" means local to that country . "International hero" would mean the world
