Quoting KeithL: I won't even go into the "bush response". Jackass....
but the thousands of people that were crushed to death, or the people onboard as they saw the towers coming. Its still so surreal! |
Too true, but I think many people would like to get their hands on one person more than George Bush still.

This is what I mean Keith! People (all of us) were grotesquely fascinated by it. We have to admit it. It was horrifying, vile, but compelling. How many of us were glued to our TVs for the whole day? How many of us wondered what it was like to have been in those buildings? Its human nature, but I don't think it's a good "memorial" to see those images again.

Quoting AEnigma III: It was certainly remembered in all UK media. However... I am glad some of the attention has died down from the frenzy of previous years. Some of the coverage bordered on a curious sinister voyeurism rather than a respectful memorial.
In addition, the action taken as a result of 9/11 and the thousands of equally innocent people who have been killed since in the name of "revenge", has tainted the way people feel. |
I agree with you. I have many family members who worked in and around the NYC area. One of my cousins was trampled very badly by people running away from the blast. I never thought I would get over it and in many ways I am more angry about the response to the attack than the actual attack. It will never bring back any of the people who died on that day. It just makes it harder to move on knowing that the people who died that day where not it's only/last victims.

I am not sure I like the tone of your comment Ciko. However, with regards to Iraq, as I ALREADY said...

People KNOW that the terrorists were mostly Saudi Arabian and were a terrorist organisation. People KNOW the "war on terror" is a farce.
Does it make us hate the "east"??? No Ciko.
However....we know the "east" hates us....it certainly doesn't help anything...

Quoting ciko: i am still so sorry for those people in New York and London. it was one of the most horrible things i have ever seen .i just want to ask two questions.i am asking as a turkish wants to know what is happening there.. not to cause any arguement..
does if 9/11 or 7/7 reminds brits and americans of what kind of life people in iraq have everyday? or
does 9/11 or 7/7 make people there hate eastern more and more eachday and make them agree with what their governments do in iraq?
|
I can't speak for all Americans, and I certainly can't speak for the British people, but I have never hated anyone. I don't agree with the way my government has dealt with the acts that occured on 9/11. When I see images of Iraq, I feel sad and horrible for what is happening. They live the hell of 9/11 almost daily...and for that I am so sorry and somewhat ashamed. I do love my country but don't always agree with the politicians. I pray that wisdom will prevail in the next election and we can restore some sanity to the world.

The truth is, people dont hate the "east" because of 9/11 or 7/7. However, unfortunately, people are starting to dislike "eastern" immigrants in the UK because of their refusal to integrate with us and their view that we are "evil".
This feeling, if it gets out of control, could easily turn to facism and nationalism...

how can you say " east hate us" ? ...how can you generalise and if you think so you have no right to say anything against if any eastern say " west hate east" because you just did the same..
