Quoting Deli_kizin:

I always feel that the ones who jump too high to defend themselves towards so-called 'offendings', act as if they have something to hide, and are really afraid it will come to day-light.

Terms as 'dont generalize', 'stereotypical', 'insults', 'they are not all like that' always make me feel that the ones who are saying this, are in the group who actually İS like that. Because if not, why bother so hard to defend something you should not feel insulted with in the first place?

When discussing a point, one can't do anything else but generalize from time to time. As long as everyone is aware of that, I see no harm.

No, people are not attacking ALL Turkish men, not ALL girls who have a summerlove are silly. But face it: this is unfortunately the general tendency of holidayresort workers versus young girls, seeking to be loved.

Well said!

this is a turkish learners site. if you dont know it u must read main page very carefully, TURKISH LANGUAGE CLASS. Im here coz I m a native speaker and help foreign ppl. so why are u on this site, for Don juans?

so, are you still fasting?
does a fruitly-like name still make you hungry?

BTW it is not just a site about language but about culture. That is why there are photos (some of them very good!!!!!), music, poetry, recipees and off topic here. And meeting people is very nice, useful and enjoyable. And more than that, essential. If i would gide myself in Turkey just upon Mevlana's advices, where does that will lead me but spirituality? In forums one can discuss, exchange ideas, ideas with which you can agree or disagree. you can discover another cultures, point of wievs, you can learn. Not to count the tremendous information you can get for planning a trip.
This is much more than a turkish learning site. Again, this is more a site about culture, in my opinion.

Actually its boring and pretty much offending too!
And been much lately in many threads,if not attacking Turkish men, then attacking the women who are committed with Turkish men.

Why dont you see it the other way arround, and i BET you wouldnt accept it!

İf you read a thread about,English women,or Dutch women,American....ect
Are travelling to Türkiye seeking love,or causal afairs
Then you would find an apology saying, oppss, nope, not all the women.
Dont take it as generalizing !

Then you find same thread again with different title, but same point, and same opppsss

That is really boring, and offending too to lable people of the country 'men or women' with some personal experience !

And btw, calling man a rabbit is very insulting thing here !

Why are 'normal' people fighting about this kind of things here! Leave that to all the 'I love you can I have your msn' people

Well, isnt that how we all see things, through our own personal experiences? Isn't 'No I have a friend who..' a common arguement for 'defenders' to say that not all are that way?

I am in love with a Turkish man, but I do not feel offended when someone says that the girls who love Tyrkish men are naive. Simply because I know they have to generalize in the discussion and dont specifically mean my case. And I dont feel the need to defend myself, because I do not feel insulted.

I agree that such threads have become boring as there is no 'final conclusion'. But saying that 'not everyone is like that', doesnt deny that there ARE people who are like that. It is a common effect that a small group can ruin it for the bigger group, but asking 'what are you doing on this website' is not the way to change the impression. The way to change it, is to make the small group stop ruining it for the bigger group.

Canli, you must have read too much into this whole thing. Nobody is claiming anything about ALL Turkish guys or ALL western women. We were simply talking about those guys who have five different girlfriends and love all of them to the bottom of their hearts, who arrange five dates in a day to see who they can get laid with, who look for easy targets to get money from... etc. Of course some of those women are also guilty, but can we also criticize the guys for a moment and point out what's wrong with THEIR attitude???

I guess that depends on who you view are the "small group ruining things"

You may feel I am ruining the site for you, I may have another group in mind! lol
