Shame on me? Excuse me catwoman, what do you know about my personal religious affiliations, and what business do you have bringing them into this thread? What do they have to do with my comment? In the post you quote, I did not mention anything regarding Islam or my being an adherent to it.

Am I an American natural born citizen, or an immigrant? Do you know? I don't even have a public announcement as to what gender I am. What business is this of yours? And what does it have to do with my comment, or the thread in particular? Such information is personal and I am careful not to post such information in public and I do not appreciate you posting what I do not.

I wrote: "....In reward, some" here insult, belittle, provoke and taunt. Didn't your family/culture teach you to show some appreciation for generous gifts?....
The amount of translation available here, due to the generosity of the very same ethnicity that some can't seem to get enough of bashing is a tribute to the character of the Turkish people."

The feeling there is a lot of Turk bashing here is not only my opinion, it is an opinion posted here many times by many people. Many of whom are not Turks.

I read once that Omar Khayyam said it's best not to talk about one's religion, ones money or departure, I try to follow that advice to the best of my ability.

All I can say is, shame on you. You bite the hand that feeds you. It is to say the least very chauvinistic.

What does that have to do with Turkish tourist workers WHO CHEAT??? These two are not exclusive. There's no doubt that there are some great Turkish people on this web site.

Alameda, being a Muslim living in the US you'd do much more good for Turkish people if you contributed to a better understanding of each other instead of deepening the conflicts! Shame on you.

Contributing to a better understanding and appreciation is exactly what I was trying to do. Maybe some here don't appreciate how hurtful their comments are to both Westerners and Turks.

Alameda, and what do you know about me? You attack and bash me based on your impulses and prejudices yet you claim to dislike this attitude!? I'm not saying that I never say the wrong thing, but clearly you're not a saint either. I was guessing that you're a Muslim, but it doesn't really matter, even if you're not, your attitude is one of stereotyping and attacking and worsening conflicts not alleviating them - at least at certain situations of misunderstanding where it would especially be helpful. I'm sorry if I'm wrong about you, but I don't appreciate your angry attitude towards me.

speech is silver but silence is gold (Söz gümüşse sükut altındır)

i hate this proverb.
its better to speak up your mind.
if you dont communicate yourself, dont expect people will understand you.
back to the proverb, such proverbs made up in order to keep people quiet, not demanding anything, keep them under the carpet, voiceless and obedient.

+1000000 I think its a cultural thing maybe..I have heard this so many times from Turkish friends here, advising me "why don't you just stay silent instead of arguing...most people there don't know what they are talking about anyway".

Well....I am not good at staying silent!
