If the law (301) is insufficient, unclear, unfair etc , let us get it corrected.

The idea is not to allow people to think "freedom of speech" is equal to "freedom to insult others".

I think the idea is not to say something bad about Turkey.

and what exactly is wrong with that?
If you have to curse Turkia, do it out side of Turkish borders.
Holland and Denmark are the best places to curse Turkia. It is actually encouraged in both countries ))))))))))))))

I am trying to understand this.

So I may criticise, i.e. "the Turkish government have made a big mistake on this".
but cannot insult
i.e. "the Turkish government are ignorant and stupid".

(the sentences are just examples!!!!!)

Is that right?

Do we need Rule 301 at Turkish Class?

No rules can stop one from insulting another, as the crime actually follows the action here.

What rules (laws) can do however is they can stop insults being made under the pretense of "freedom of speech".

When I insult, I prefer to mean it and I stay behind my insults...no hiding behind a misguided "freedom of speech" concept...

I think many people have trouble determining the difference between "insulting" and "criticising" - particularly on this website.

When you criticise here, more often than not you are subjected to a tirade of insults (I have been called some choice words in my time on TC). Name calling seems to be the only defence of the weak minded! I would much rather be proved wrong by a skilful piece of argument, than be proved right by an insult

In fact, I do believe that the only person I have ever insulted here is AlphaF - and I also believe he has never retaliated. So extra brownie points to him lol lol lol

I agree some people here insincerely confuse "insullting" with "critisizing" ..but not that many. They think they are smart.

We also have some "honest" insulters, who know what they are doing )))))))

Insulting is an art. It should have some truth and also some wit I reserve it mainly for my friends rather than waste it on my enemies
