Yilgun why are you quoting the source? We all know this is a story to be found in both the Koran and in the Bible.

Ah! - that makes sense.......
But shouldn´t seni then be at the start of the sentence?

Do you always write in English totally grammatically correctly??
I always strive to do so - especially on a forum where many members are learners of the language!!!

Yes - so do I but in all my Turkish learning books it tells you to put the verb at the end of the sentence/clause but I have noticed both in spoken and written Turkish they often don´t do this. Hopefully Armegon will come back and explain - you know I´m only learning!
Modify: Oh look!! There he is now!!

Actually he was correct.
The story is in the Qu´ran but it is also in the Bible. If Yilgun wanted the Turkish to be translated into English it would make sense to translate Ismail into Isaac - the name that would be recognised by the English - wouldn´t it? In the same way as if he had written about Isa or Nuh - I would expect to see these names translated to Jesus and Noah in the English version.
So he was quite correct
Translated,is to say same what he said or meant but in the other language.
Ãsaac is not Ãsmail, they are 2 different persons
And 2 different believes!
Ãn Ãslam we believe it was Ãsmail, and in Christianity, you believe it was Ãssac
So its not same to say that the story was about Ãssac when we are talking from Muslims point of view
Ãn your example,Ãsa is Jesus...that is same person,so it makes sense of course to say Jesus instead of Ãsa, no problem, and wont change anything.
But here,Ãsmail and Ãssac is 2 different believes...its different
So he was far away from being correct .
