I wanted to say this for a long time. (I wonder where I found the courage now.)
This is the bad fruit of nationalism. How come people feel like they have to
a) admit
b) deny
Isn´t there a third option:
c) come on, this was a hundred years ago, I wasn´t there.

d) forget it. Leave the bad things in the past and look forward.
Turks did "d" so far but they do want to remember it let alone to forget. If we were to want to remember we also have bad things done to us in the past.

ISTANBUL - Hürriyet
Hürriyet photo
Two Turkish men were hospitalized on arrival to Turkey after drinking camel´s milk and urine while on an umrah visit, daily Hürriyet reported. The men believed the camel´s milk and urine to be good for health, claiming it was written in a hadith. An imam, according to the Turkish men, also drank the milk and urine with them. The visitors were hospitalized due to high fever and unusual levels of liver enzymes. Further tests revealed that the two men had been infected with the "alkhurma" virus, reportedly catching the virus from the milk. The alkhurma virus is very dangerous and highly contagious and has a fatality rate of 25 to 35 percent, daily Hürriyet reported. İhsan Özkes, a retired religious cleric and current member of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), denied the existence of any hadith that would encourage people to drink camel´s milk and urine. "Those who did drink it must have been ignorant," he said.

We drink camel´s milk (note never urine!). It is called shubat and is very very delicious, we have it slightly fermented, then it tastes like a sour airan.

Sex with the dead on Egyptian Parliament´s agenda
REUTERS photo
Egyptian Parliament is preparing to discuss a draft law that would let husbands have sex with their “dead wives” within six hours of their death, an Egyptian columnist from daily Al-Ahram has said.
The draft law, which will reportedly legalize necrophilia, has caused an uprorar in the country. Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) has appealed to the Islamist-dominated Parliament not to approve controversial law, according to Al-Arabiya’s report.
Parliament was also said to be discussing another legal resolution that would allow women to marry at the age of 14.

çok inanılmaz.. I think its more disturbing to read that its even being considered.
And, as if girls being arranged into marriage as young as 14 isn´t bad enough IMO. personally I´m against the practice, however, Im in no position to judge countries that do this.

Breivik blames Turkish friend´s father for his radical views

Confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik has told a Norwegian court that he was slighted by Muslims on numerous occasions during his childhood, seeming to suggest that these incidents played a role in his radicalization.
Breivik says that when he was seven years old his friend´s Turkish father wrecked his bicycle and at the age of 15 he was slapped by a Pakistani subway driver for riding on the outside of a subway car.
The court was hearing witnesses for the defense Monday when Breivik, who is accused of killing 77 people in a bomb and shooting rampage last summer in Norway, gave his testimony. The defendant´s mental state is a key question in the case, and psychiatrists have given differing conclusions whether Breivik is sane.
