Quoting Elisa:

So you are right. The thing is, we use "raisin" both for "currant" and "raisin" overhere. Nobody uses "krent" here really. I never got the difference

But my intentions were good though

I also didn't mean to be a know-all but I got confused myself too on this topic earlier.

A 'currant/krent' comes from a totally different grape family than normal 'raisins', They are twice as small but are dried like raisins. However, there is also a plant that carries 'currants' and these berries are used too to dry and called currant/krent, so there is a difference between raisins and currants. Raisins are bigger, a bit sweeter and softer.

I wouldnt know the difference either hadnt it been that I worked in a pancake-restaurant and 'currants' are a wanted ingredient for elderly people

To keep the story to Turkey, kuru üzümler are used in some tatlılar, cookies and cakes, kuşÃ¼zümü is used in certain pilavs and dolma biberi.

kuşÃ¼zümü - raisin

I thought that kuşÃ¼zümü isn't raisin, but a currant.

KuşÃ¼zümü - Currant
Kuru üzüm - Raisin

I am confused now.

Thank you both

You would say that with all the free space here there would be lots of free-range eggs, but when I asked Kadir, he said the ones in the supermarket probably are not :-S

Is that the kind of köfte that is kneaded for quite a while? Someone once told me that because of that it gets cooked, I didn't like the idea so much really...

Yes. But I wonder how it gets cooked by just kneading it with hot spices. I never thought that would be possible but apparantly it is!
