I was browsing the web for information, and just read that as long you have a dual-band phone (minimum requirement), there should be no problem at all?
I might want to investigate a bit further though..

There are two bands in Europe and two bands in N. America. European country to Turkey is fine.

The main rule is that you can't bring a foreign phone to Turkey and use a turkish simcard with it. Paying the fee is going to work for a while but eventually the phone won't be able to find a signal.

I had never heard about this.. Thought I could just go and buy a TR simcard and that would be it!
Is it worth going through that procedure for a month's stay? And do you have to pay to get it registered?

My friend bought a $300 phone is the US to bring to Turkey. Worked for two weeks then stopped. He had to register with customs and then it took months for it to work.

I also have ATT international. The sim card will work but you may have to use a euro/turkish phone unless you have a 4 band phone. Typical US phones are only 2 bands.
But beware, even if you pay the $6.00 monthly for the international plan with ATT, incoming and outgoing calls while in Turkey are between $2.00 and $3.00 per minute.

Don't want to look stupid but have to ask. Is the rice and mince cooked before we put it in the pepper. And when you say put it in the water to the neck, does that mean that it covers the outside of the pepper ensuring none goes inside the top?

the peppers are standing up in the pot. fill the pot with water about 3/4 up the pepper. the meat and rice is almost steamed this way. pot is covered obviously.

It is clear that this argument is going nowhere.
I still stand on a position opposing nationalism.
The only nationalism I would defend is that of an oppressed group fighting against imperialism.
The problem as I see it lies between the rich and the poor.
the boss and the worker.
I do not identify with someone because of their nationality.
The idea is absurd.
I have more in common with people all over the world by virtue of class than anything else.
İn Turkey, as everywhere, I look to the working class.
We are the ones who make everything produce everything.
Not the likes of Baykal or Erdogan...

So do not ask me to support some cross class alliance of nationalists bent on serving their own ends..

Do you still have the burn of teargas in your eyes from may day?
