I have been forgotten, like the forgotten years.  Like the roses written on the walls covered with moss.

Traffic accidents can be bad in Turkey, and the last day of bayram holiday when everyone is travelling can be really bad.

It is only midday on Sunday and we have already had a lot of really bad news today.  5 died in Trabzon.  37 injured when a bus hit a car near Duzce, and then flash news 10 minutes ago of a huge accident near Tekirdag with 15 dead.

Please be careful if you are driving today.

It is a discussion between someone who did the 15 month military service, to someone who did the 6 months one, explaining why the 2 can´t be compared.  It has some military terms I didnt get, but here is most of it:

They sent you for training, my child, but they send us here to the terrorists.  We did that sentry duty too, boyumuz kadar karin icinde, twice a night, you know that you cannot shoot unless there is an order, while you were on sentry duty there for 2 hours and then slept with an easy heart, we here sleep on pins, with our loaded guns by our heads.. Don´t compare that 6 months of toy soldiers in Ankara with 15 months of national service on the Iraqi border continually face to face with death.. You were bald anyway when you went to the military, this place is making me go bald.. Anyway, no need to argue any more because these things can´t be compared.

Quoting asphaltina

Bir sevgi istiyorum
Yalansýz ve dolansýz
Sevgi adýna en güzel
Söylenmiþ kelimeler

 I want love

Honest and simple

Are the most beautiful words

Ever said in the name of love

You and me hand in hand

Let us go to the stars

Let us live this love

In our hearts totally...

Note: The words I translated as "honest and simple" are literally "without lie and without complicated deceit".

I´m starting to wonder the same about Turkish these days.. I´m so over my top of what I can learn here (without too much effort), that I can only hope I will move back before I lost it ´all´.

The only way to get past intermediate level is to live here  ... that´s what I found!

Neither was I. That´s why I needed over 200 ytl

If you have ever had to buy something really big, and they insist on cash, you would be pleased to have 200 TL note.  It makes the carrier bag of money half the size !!!!

I had to put 5000 pound deposit (in TL) on a house in cash, and I ran from my bank to my car, and then from my car to the sellers office as I was terrified of losing this great big bag of money.

We missed paying the National Insurance payment for our staff last December, as the bank had a problem with their system on the 31st.  Silly me I had left it to the last day.  If you make a late pament (i.e. a payment the next month) you cant do it by bank transfer.  You have to go to the National Insurance office with cash.  So I sent two members of staff with 3500 YTL. They linked arms and held the carrier bag tight between them.

It probably isnt a joke.  Often this is a mail that has a virus attached.  If you love someone, don´t send it to them !!!
