Quoting Avalon: Quoting CANLI: Actually,i asked this for a reason, you said ''I was more critical with harsher words ragarding racism and nationalism when I was in Turkey.''
So, you were that free in Türkiye to express your opinion in a harsher ways as you said
You have that freedom
Even as i understood, you said the political system is shutting people's mouths !
So you got me confused |
Canli i do not know what is going on but it seems to me that the point of view depends on your conformism skills.thehandsome is a perfect example of it.Who knows if he does not share the same opinions like Lapin and Jan in his house but in the eye of publicity,Tc Publicity goes for totally different ones??? |
Canli,
In order the explain properly how political system is shutting people's mouth may take a longer post about the development of freedom of speech in turkey and the recent history of turkey (say from 1970's up to now)
But just a quick note about it will be the number of political prisoners in Turkey since 1980 and the number of court cases against the people who happened to be expressing their opinions.
avalon, look..I never considered myself as conformist. I dont need people agreeing with me. I dont care to be honest.
and for the record, in my house (or where ever I am) I try to be consistant with my ideas. So my ideas are whatever I express here, same in my house as well..

I don't think the problem with BSB was what they thought but how they expressed it. They were biased, one-sided and aggressive, which didn't actually add them credibility. If you think that they were criticised because they love they country, you must have missed 90% of their posts. Though I wouldn't call them racists, they clearly are nationalists and nationalism is not something good like patriotism. They live in a world of paranoia - everybody is out to get them - the USA has a plan to divide them, the Kurds, who, by the way, have no problem with being Turkish, want to take over half of their country, the whole west wants to dominate Turkey. The only point is why. That's what they never explained. Turkey, although surely interesting, is neither a supremacy nor a unique location. BSBs way of debating reminds me somewhat of Achmet The Dead Terrorist - Silence! I kill you!
I know they're probably young and thus more likely to perceive things in black and white only, and I know English is not their native tongue, but they pushed it, most users here aren't native English speakers as well. It'll do them good to calm down, maybe go abroad and see some world so that when they return to Turkey they'll see how wrong they were.

Daydreamer - you are the voice of reason! I would have liked to have looked at your link but that site appears to be banned in Turkey!

Quoting thehandsom: Well..
I am sorry but you both got it wrong!!
First of all, what Canli is saying is politically INCORRECT.
"They live differently,or they believe differently" CAN make you racist. Opinions/ideas make people racist/faschist/communist/feminists/sexists etc..
I dont want to talk from their back personally, but i can dig you many many racist comments from their previous threads.
'Loving country' is a different matter here..
It is not a love with knowing what 'loving your country' means..
It is a feeling results of years and years of stupid brain washing. Not love.
It is a love in such as 'if you dont think the way I think, you are my enemy, because I love my country' type love.
It is a love that they love so much so as they can kill country's enemies like Hrant Dink, Orhan Pamuk etc.
We dont need that feeling in Turkey.
That 'so called' love is my beautiful country's enemy, a huge obsticle for creating a democratic/free Turkey.

Perfectly expressed Handsom.
I am sure Canli and Avalon would similarly have defended Hitler!

Quoting Chantal: It seems rather unfair to talk behind people's back. |
Although I don't agree with some of what is being said above, some of the comments are a bit strong. It is not exactly talking behind someones back. TC is public and I am sure they both view the site - they have been around here far too long just to walk away. If they wanted to respond they would join again.
I am not defending it but it is not the first time that someone has been discussed after they have been deleted and it wont be the last.
Talking behind someones back is discussing someone via PM and I sure most of us are guilty of that at some point.

Quoting Deli_kizin: I don't agree with many of their sayings, but I don't think they are real racists either. To be honest, I think it was mainly a problem of English. Often they posted a racist sentence, but when they later explained it, it turned out to be not so racist as it looked at first.
Yet, I wonder what this habit of TC is to keep discussing members that are gone, especially by people who are happy to see those members have gone |
I agree with this too. Patriotic and nationalist, but I don't believe racist...
