Ese ile Köse Ese and Köse
Bir Türkmen beyi bir kâhya istedi, A Turkoman gentlemen wanted a majordomo.
Köse onun kahyası olmak istedi. Köse wanted to be his majordomo.
Türkmen beyi ona şunu dedi : Turkoman gentlemen said to him that :
Al bu bir koyun parasını. Take this money for a sheep.
Kırk gün süren var . You have forty days time.
Onunla bir koyun al, Buy a sheep with this.
İstersen koyunu çobana ver . İf you want, give sheep to a herdsman.
Kanına kan isterim, İ want blood to its blood.
Canına can isterim. İ want soul to its soul
Bir deri ver derisinden, Give me leather to its leather.
Giysi isterim yününden. İ want cloth from its fur.
Etini de isterim. İ want its meat too.
Ancak But
Koyunu diri getir, Bring sheep alive
Parayı geri getir. Bring money back

Köse parayı aldı ve yola çıktı. Köse took money and set off on his way.
Yolda bir adama rastlamış. He met a man on his way.
Köse dedi: — Arkadaş, adın ne ? Köse said - Friend, what is your name ?
Adam dedi - Adım Ese. Man said - my name is Ese

Bir süre yol aldılar They went on way for a time.
Yokuş gördüler. They saw hill.
Ese dedi - Yokuş çıkmak zor. Ese said - İt is hard to climb hill

Köse dedi Köse said
Yarı yola kadar sen beni taşırsın. You carry me to half way
Sonra ben seni taşırım. Then i carry you to other half way
Böylece yorulmayız So we do not get tired.

Ese düşÃ¼ndü ki. Ese thought that
Yokuş tırmanan kişi nasıl başkasını taşısın. How can one who climbs a hill carry other.
Tepeye vardıklarında ekinleri gördüler. They saw crops when they arrived to hill.

Köse dedi. Köse said
Bu ekinler sizin mi, Are these crops yours ?
Yiyip bitirdiniz mi? Did you finish them eating ?

Ese düşÃ¼ndü ki. Ese thought that
Ekinleri biçmeden nasıl yiyebiliriz, How can we eat crops without cutting crops

Mezarlar gördüler. Then they saw a graves

Köse dedi. Köse said.
Onların hepsi ölü mü ? Are all of them dead. ?
Var mıdır yaşayanlar? Are there any alive of them ?

Ese düşÃ¼ndü ki. Ese thought that
Bir insan mezarda nasıl yaşayabilir ? How can a person live in grave ?

Ese'nin evine gittiler. They went to home of Ese.
Ese'nin kızı babasına bu adam kim diye sordu Daughter of Ese asked to his father that , who is this man ?
Ese dedi ki Kösenin sözlerini anlamadım. Ese said that i did not understand words of Köse.
Ve Ese herşeyi kızına anlattı. And Ese told everything to his daughter.
Kızı babasına Kösenin sözlerinin anlamlarını anlattı. His daughter told meanings of words of Köse to her father.
Yokuşta dedi sana: He said to you on hill that:
biraz sen konuşursun, biraz ben konuşum böylece yokuşu aşarız. You speak some, i speak some so we end the hill.
Ekinleri görünce sana dedi ki When he saw crops, he said to you that,
Ekinler sizde mi kalacak. Will crops stay with you
Yoksa borca mı vereceksiniz. or will you give them to debts.
Mezarlığı görünce sana dedi ki When he saw graves, he said to you that,
Mezardaki insanlar, yaptıkları iyi şeyler ile yaşıyorlar mı ? Are these people in graves alive with good things that they made.


Köse, Ese'nin kızına dedi ki Köse said to daughter of Ese that
Bana yardım et . Help me
Bir Türkmen beyi bana bir koyun parası verdi. A Turkoman gentlemen gave me money for a sheep
Kırk gün sürem var . i have forty days time.

İstersem koyunu çobana veririm . İf i want, i give sheep to a herdsman.
Türkmen beyi koyunun kanına kan istedi, Turkoman gentlemen wanted blood to blood of sheep.

Ese'nin kızı Köse'ye dedi ki daughter of Ese said to Köse that
Yakında doğuracak, bir koyun al. Buy a sheep that will give birth soon.
Karaman’ın koyunu çift verir kuzusunu. Karaman sheeps give two lamb births
Kırk gün sütünü sağ You milk the sheep for forty days.
Sütü sat ve parayı ona geri para olarak ver. sell milk and give this money to him as money back.
Yününden giysi yap. Make clothe from its fur.
Koyunu ona canlı geri ver Give alive sheep to him
Bir kuzuyu kes Cut a lamb
Derisinden deri verirsin. give leather from its leather
Etini ona ver Give its meat to him
Diğer kuzuyu canına can diye kes Cut other lamb as soul to its soul

To Make Nouns Plural

"ler" or "lar" is added to noun to make it plural.

if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı,o,u" then it must be "lar"
E.g: Aslan = Aslanlar
Işık = Işıklar
Jeton = Jetonlar
Ulus = Uluslar

if last vowel of noun is one of "e,i,ö,ü" then it must be "ler"
E.g : Ãœlke = Ãœlkeler
Kedi = Kediler
Göz = Gözler
Düğün = Düğünler


Five Noun Cases

1-Without any suffix (Yalın Durumu) : E.g: Aslan, Ses, Mendil

2-Accusative Case "the" ( Belirme Durumu "ı,i,u,ü" ) :

if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı" then it must be "ı"
E.g : Aslan = Aslanı
if last vowel of noun is one of "e,i" then it must be "i"
E.g : Ses = Sesi
Mendil = Mendili
if last vowel of noun is one of "o,u" then it must be "u"
E.g : Jeton = Jetonu
Ulus = Ulusu
if last vowel of noun is one of "ö,ü" then it must be "ü"
E.g : Göz = Gözü
Düğün = Düğünü

İf noun ends with a vowel than y letter is added too. (yı,yi,yu,yü)
Examples:
Fayda = Faydayı
Şarkı = Şarkıyı
Ãœlke = Ãœlkeyi
Kedi = Kediyi
Su = Suyu
Süngü = Süngüyü

if noun ends with "nk" then "nk" turns into "ng"
Cenk = Cengi

if noun ends with "rt" then rt turns into "rd"
Kart = Kardı

if noun is longer one syllable and if noun ends with p,ç,t,k they turn into b,c,d,ğ
if noun ends with "p" it turns into "b"
Kitap = Kitabı
if noun ends with "ç" it turns into "c"
Ağaç = Ağacı
if noun ends with "t" it turns into "d"
Yoğurt = Yoğurdu
if noun ends with "k" it turns into "ğ"
Işık = Işığı


3-Dative Case "to" ( Yönelme Durumu "e,a" ) :

if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı,o,u" then it must be "a"
E.g : Aslan = Aslana
Jeton = Jetona
Ulus = Ulusa
if last vowel of noun is one of "e,i,ö,ü" then it must be "e"
E.g : Ses = Sese
Mendil = Mendile
Göz = Göze
Düğün = Düğüne

Jeton = Jetonda

if last vowel of noun is one of "e,i,ö,ü" then it must be "de"
E.g :
Mendil = Mendilde
Göz = Gözde
Düğün = Düğünde

İf noun ends with one of (" ç,f,t,h,s,k,p,ş") then it must be "te" or "ta"
if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı,o,u" then it must be "ta"
E.g :
Yoğurt = Yoğurtta

E.g :
Çiçek = Çiçekte


5-Departure Case "from" ( Ayrılma Durumu "den,dan,ten,tan" ) :

if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı,o,u" then it must be "dan"
E.g : Aslan = Aslandan
Jeton = Jetondan

if last vowel of noun is one of "e,i,ö,ü" then it must be "den"
E.g :
Mendil = Mendilden
Göz = Gözden
Düğün = Düğünden

İf noun ends with one of (" ç,f,t,h,s,k,p,ş") then it must be "ten" or "tan"
if last vowel of noun is one of "a,ı,o,u" then it must be "tan"
E.g :

Not: İf noun is plural, noun cases are added after "ler,lar" suffix.
