Strese karşı kuru fasulye!

Bacaklarınıza, ayağınıza, ellerinize sık sık kramp mı giriyor ya da sürekli gerginlik mi hissediyorsunuz? Stres seviyeniz yüksek mi? Kendinizi hep yorgun mu hissediyorsunuz? Tüm bu şikâyetlerinizin sebebi magnezyum eksikliği olabilir.

Quoting Abla

In my opinion jealousy is a disease, a very destructive and hurtful feeling. It goes very deep in asking if we are good enough for this life. Jealousy pollutes not only love affairs but other human relations as well. It is not something that should be encouraged or something one should be proud of or flattered from. In the opposite we should fight it every time we see tracks of it in ourselves or people we care about.

The old piece of advice "Treat people like you like to be treated" works very well as a medicine for jealousy also.

+1

Agreed.. Jealousy of Turkish men-or the men from middle east- can be quite exhausting..

Fazil Say gets 10-month suspended jail term for blasphemy..

..

Fazil Say, Hürriyet Photo

The court handed down the sentence after finding Say guilty of "insulting religious values of a part of the population" for a series of provocative tweets that critics said had insulted Islam and Muslims. The pianist was not present in court during the sentencing.

A recurrent theme in the Turkish media these days is the commission of “wise people.” These are some 63 names chosen by the government ..

They will go from city to city, from conference to conference, to inform the public about the need for a farewell to arms.

... With their current job definition, however, they risk looking like a propaganda team for the government’s peace initiative. (As I always say, there is the right way, the wrong way, and the Turkish way. This is a peace initiative, the Turkish way.)

Yet there are bigger problems that the committee of “wise people” will face: the nationalist opposition which condemns them as traitors. Spokesmen for not just the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) but also the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) have angrily bashed them as traitors who are selling out their country. ..

The attitude of such hardcore “Atatürkist” groups, and their representatives in the media, make it obvious that the “peace process” will move on despite Kemalism. ..

This creates an interesting alliance on the other side: between the AKP and the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), the de facto political arm of the PKK. These two parties have not only partnered for peace, but there is a chance that they might work together for the new Constitution. If that really happens, the two main victims of the old system, conservative Muslims and the Kurds, will be co-instituting the new system. What an irony of history.

At this point, perhaps the committee of wise people can help by building a larger support for the peace process, by persuading at least some voters of the CHP and even the MHP. I know that it is really hard to convince these people. But it is still better than letting some 40 percent of society think that Turkey is heading to doomsday.

................

Unfortunately it is the case in Turkey. There is a peace process we always wanted and it is hapening right now but we are still so cautious to celebrate.

I think this weill continue until nationalists or kemalists realize  that they are the actually real victim of the old regime because they believed the lies the state told all of us.

Green light to Canal Istanbul project

The government has pushed the button for the Canal Istanbul project, which will create a big island on the European side of Istanbul, after the Higher Planning Committee signed the project, two years after it was announced by the prime minister.

..

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/govt-gives-green-light-to-crazy-canal-istanbul-project.aspx?pageID=238&nID=44823&NewsCatID=341

==================

It is a mouth watering project from the civil engineering point of view but from the environment point of view and as far as city planning are concerned it is a disaster!!

It will increase the population of Istanbul, destroy the northern green areas of Istanbul  and I dont think they know what sort of environmental effect they will get in the end.

I think there are a few common misconceptions about this issue.

One of them is importance of Turkey for EU. In Turkey, because of the politicians we have been told that "Turks are great; we,Turks, scared them, Europeans, in history; they are always biased against the Turks; we live in one of the most important  place on earth so they have eyes on our land etc;". This is partially  understandable, considering what happened 100 years ago and the nation-state building process, but it is not the reailty. One of my friends who is studying his post doctorate here told me a few weeks ago that he is amazed how Turkey is very little mentioned in political talks in EU. He thought that Turkey has been playing a major role in EU politics. Actually, Turkey is not that important as much as we Turks normally think for EU.

The other one is the racism against the Turks in EU. Yes there is a degree of racism in EU but not specifically against the Turks. Discrimination against a black person is more common comparing to Turks or any other ethnic minorities. But there is no specific racism or discrimination against Turks. Of course there might be some regional differences -ie a condensed population of an ethnic grup can be subjected to discrimination with their names.. calling ´pakis´ of pakistani origins in Birmingham for example.- The degree of racism and discrimination is hugely differing the racism you see in developing countries as well. (Kurdish politicians kept saying that "give the same rights Turks in EU have to us in Turkey, there would not be a problem" for example).**

The other subject is to mention that most of these Turks in EU, which is the biggest etchnic minority, are either economic or political refugees. Mainly economic of course. We are getting more integrated and more self confident about our rights and what we can do in EU countries. I think the days of Turks only known as kebap selling people is kind of gone. We are in Europe as ourselves. We are paying our taxes and trying to be good citizens. That is why the other day I was trying to say that instead of being a glorious Turk who conquered the world or sunnis or alevies or Kurds or Armenians, just trying to be a good citizens might be enough for a peaceful country to live in.

**As an example of the degree of racism, the other day I read a story about a teacher in Turkey. A kurdish origin teacher after working as a teacher in the east and west part of Turkey and even becoming a headmaster, retired and bought a small land in a small viallage in  Ayvalik. The first week, the men of the village said that they wanted to visit the family. The retired teacher thought there would be a kind of welcome thing. He even prepared some snacks for the guests.. But he was told that they did not want him in the village and they wanted to buy his land with the same price. Poor guy, he thought it is not worth trying in his retirement and sold his land and bought somewhere different.
