Quoting catwoman: Quoting aenigma x: With regard to porn, I can only repeat what I believe, that men are sexually aroused by what they SEE, women are aroused by what they hear and feel, which accounts for the unsuccessful attempts to produce porn for women. |
I think that's a HUGE oversimplification Aenigma. Women care about men's looks a lot by the way.
I think a much better explanation of male's behavior is in a book called "The Centerfold Syndrome". |
I agree its an over-simplification, but generally true. Yes, of course women care about men's looks, but I am talking about arousal. Women do not (in general) get as aroused by a picture of a naked male, for example, as a male gets aroused by a picture of a naked female.
Whether you agree with me or not, statistics show that men get aroused by visual images and women get aroused by written images.

According to many specialists, this is a product of conditioning. Again, the books I mentioned explore this issue in detail.
I think you are talking about the general behavior as is common, but that does not imply that it came to be this way "by nature".

I didn't say it happened by nature, but only that statistics show that women prefer literature to images

'Have you ever noticed that theories of the inherent differences between men and women conflict with each other? For example, people will say that men are more 'visual,' but then say that men don't care about things like decorating and clothes? Or that men are more competent at math, science, and everything intellectual or important, but completely oafish and incapable when it comes to simple tasks such as changing a diaper?'

I think some men tend to have selective memories or capabilities when it convenients them. Most men I know, usually lacks the visual and if they do like decorating, cloths etc.. they are more on the feminine side. Changing a diaper? Hmm, usually you will hear "That's a womens job".
