Quoting yazmin_cita: just for the record, I married a Turkish man and I love him to death but some of this is true. I know he talks to his friends about meeting russian girls and talk about their hair and beautiful blue eyes.. and he does whatch porn...much. How come he married me??? a Mexican?? put that aside we are still together because we love each other and because I realized that man (from any country)usually stare at tall blondes...beautiful because they are not the typical woman they are nice to fantasize with and look at. But, at the end, most of them will end up with a regular "yazmin" or typical girl with all or most qualities they look for in a wife. Now, some of the luckiest guys can find all these qualities in a tall blonde.. |
The vital question that needs a satisfying answer: why does a married man who is 'happy' at home need to watch porn?

And that's a question I like to be answered by a (married) man. Being a woman I can never answer it, just give my thoughts - which might be true or not. So, Qdemir, why do you, as a man, think they do?

I ask myself that question everyday. There is a rap song (many perhaps) which says "we want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed". I think that speaks for the way many many man think (sadly including my husband).

thats really sad, I get the feeling it really bothers you. I do know that porno can be no big deal and just something men do when they are lonely, but there are points where it becomes an addiction, just like any other addiction, and it is very common nowadays with everyone having the internet. I also know that it doesn't matter how sexy, or "freaky", or how often you have sex with your man..... it is NOT your fault, it's just an aweful addiction, and the only way to stop it is like any other addiction, the person has to realize it's a problem.

Trudy, have you read 'Animal Husbandry' by Laura Zigman? I agree with the author to some extent.

I couldn't agree with many of Laura Zigman's theories. Her view that men have a "mate them and leave them" instinct just doesn't ring true now that women are more empowered in (some) societies. The behaviours of both sexes, in an equal environment, become very similar.
With regard to porn, I can only repeat what I believe, that men are sexually aroused by what they SEE, women are aroused by what they hear and feel, which accounts for the unsuccessful attempts to produce porn for women.
However, the increase in porn which degrades women is purely due to the flagging egos of males feeling threatened by a (slight) increase in the empowerment of women!

I think that's a HUGE oversimplification Aenigma. Women care about men's looks a lot by the way.
I think a much better explanation of male's behavior is in a book called "The Centerfold Syndrome", or this: The Sex Atlas.

make love and sex, both very different things.First one has a sense and the second one simple and unmeaningfull,so i think women nature inclined to first one and men nature the second one,so self control more difficult for the men i think

I agree its an over-simplification, but generally true. Yes, of course women care about men's looks, but I am talking about arousal. Women do not (in general) get as aroused by a picture of a naked male, for example, as a male gets aroused by a picture of a naked female.
Whether you agree with me or not, statistics show that men get aroused by visual images and women get aroused by written images.
