OK Time for confessions.
When I was new I wanted to buy brown bread from the bakery.
I knew kepekli ekmek was the word for wholemeal bread.
But I confused the poor baker by asking for
köpekli ekmek

I still say that now Marion also just learned that 'kepek' is dandruff

kepek= the whole grain itself (or dandruff, thanks mylo  )
kepekli= "with whole grain" i.e. wholemeal
kepekli ekmek = "bread with whole grain" i.e. wholemeal bread.
It is a bit like the change I made to elmalı tart that you wrote in another thread tonite.
When food has a flavor you don't say apple pie you say pie with apple in Turkish.
Çikolatalı dondurma = chocolate ice-cream
Tavuklu krep = chicken crepe
Sosisli sandviç = sausage sandwich
MAntarlı pizza = mushroom pizza
Afiyet olsun .. these examples are making me feel peckish.

So this dictionary entry is wrong when it says that kepek ekeği is "whole-wheat bread"???

Looking back at that - I am confused as to why you didn't add the -li suffix to both böğürtlen and elma as I originally wrote böğürtlen ve elma tartı (I think). Why did it not change to böğüfrtlenli ve elmalı tart?

Good Q. You made me doubt what I learned!
When in doubt ... check with the Turkish Language Associate (www.tdk.gov.tr) the body set up by Atatürk.
TDK doesn't recognise Kepek ekmeği.
"kepek ekmeği sözü bulunamadı"
They have the following for kepekli (translations are mine):
kepekli = sıfat (adjective)
1 . İçinde kepeği olan:
"Kepekli un. Kepekli ekmek."- .
That which has kepek in it: wholemeal flour, wholemeal bread
2 . Ãœzerinde kepek oluşmuş olan:
"Kepekli saçlar."- .
That which has become dandruffy: dandruff hair (YUK! Don't you use Head and Shoulders?)
3 . Un gibi, susuz ve tatsız (elma).
An apple that is dry and tasteless (YUK).
