it has no significance if we call them jews or hebrews or israelis. we still talk about the same people.
....so under that rationalization...does it make a difference if we call them Arabs, Palestinians, Canaanites....or whatever?
The Levant has been populated a very long time by many different people, actually going all the way back to the Neanderthal...

I don´t understand where you got the agression from, but ok, your right to perceive my posts anyway you like it.
If a person believes that Mary could give birth to anybody while being a virgin, they are not using their rational thinking skills (or perhaps they are seriously deficient in the knowledge of reproductive biology). You can be offended about it if you like. I´m not going to pretend I respect absurd and preposterous beliefs in the name of being sensitive to the religious.
Melek, I did not say I believe or I don´t.. but the fact stays that, things happen, and sometimes we can not explain them, but it does not necessarily mean that they don´t happen.. like did you know that sperms can live in bathtubs for sometime... and may be one in one billion chance, there is a chance, you get into that very same bath, fill it with water, and get pregnant... this is scientifically proven.. so we come to the same point..
The problem is the religion interpreted and practised today, I believe are not the original forms.. therefore giving today´s examples doesn´t mean they are bad.. like in The Middle Age was selling papers for heaven, pay the church and reserve your place heaven... it did happen.. but was it real Christianity? Likewise circumcision of women is a wrong practise, while for men, it is again scientifically proven that when performed, it keeps the men safe from many diseases. And by the way, it is not valid only for Muslims but for Jews as well..
If anyone comes here and praises the practise of the religion in some countries, believe me I will be one of the first to declare war on him... but still, making fun of other´s beliefs is not the right approach.

Actually, parthenogenesis does exist...(a scientifically proven fact only recently) so don´t be so sure.....do you really know what happened a couple of thousand years ago?
No, sorry, Mary´s ob/gyn records didn´t make it to this day, can´t tell for sure, but, erm, I think I can take a good guess

Merih, nobody called anybody ´dumb´ here, and nobody disrespected anybody´s right to believe in anything. I think that you find it very threatening when someone questions faith, but those are actually the people who have never had their due respect to express THEIR beliefs freely! Maybe what you wrote here should be directed to religious people.
Thanks Catwoman, didn´t get offended, no worries.

Actually your incorrect....at least according to Israeli law. You don´t have to believe in anything to be considered a Jew. All you have to have is a Jewish mother, who had a Jewish mother. So, if effect one could have very little actual Hebrew genetic material to be considered a Jew. While one could have a lot of Hebrew genetic material and not qualify as a Jew, according to Israeli law...and Orthodox Rabbinical Law.

Ok, I agree, things happen that we can´t explain, but in my opinion it doesn´t mean that god is the obvious explanation for those things. So let´s agree to disagree here.
What is real Christianity? (And by the way, I´m not singling out Christianity here, my comments are directed towards any religious dogmas). You think the problem is how it´s practiced today? Thanks to the secular and humanistic movements at least certain people can have their rights protected in at least some parts of the world. Can you imagine living in 1st century AD and being gay, woman, slave? How do you think you´d be treated then, based on the "Christian" principles? But if you think that religions are great, it´s the people that misbehave, that´s fine, let´s agree to disagree here too.
The last part is a bit mindblowing to me ... you´re willing to declare a war on somebody who praises the practice the religious in some countries, but you think it´s wrong to ridicule beliefs????? And you´re expecting me to respect such beliefs???? Do you listen to yourself? Let me repeat it, you´re willing to DECLARE A WAR on somebody who PRAISES THE PRACTICE OF THE RELIGION IN SOME COUNTRIES. Didn´t you just made a post on how important it is to respect others´ beliefs??????

Jews are NOT Hebrews....they might not even have any discernable Hebrew genetic material to be considered Jewish law....read up on it....you will see....
added to edit...then there are those who consider themselves Perfected Jews... Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews.

Yes, I listen to myself.. I do respect, but I do not accept somebody imposing their ideas on me, for or against. I will declare war on people who praise and/or impose malpractice of religion... Do you understand the difference.. if somebody says, I believe in this, you have a right to believe it or not.. it´s okay.. but if somebody comes, and tells me you are a sinner, and you are this and that, sorry, I think everybody is responsible for their own conducts..
Here we are discussing various topics... everybody has different views, and may be related experiences that supports that view, it is most of the times fun to learn from new experiences, new way of thinkings, new point of views... but if the other person offends you, then things change of course...
Like in this case, Alameda and I said, believe it or not.. and you came up and declared people who believe deficit. This is not okay. As nobody asked you to believe in what we were discussing. And nobody was finding excuses for the malpractises, or people telling you what to do, and what to wear and how to wear.
I hope this makes things clear..
