Quoting sophie:

I tried to install the new version ( 2.0 ) but I got the following message:

unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed

You can uninstall the previously installed version from

Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Turkish Dictionary

Can you give me the version of your internet explorer and more details about the error? I amnot sure what it might be because I don't have any error on my browser.

Looks like I managed to put as many bugs and problems as Windows Vista Beta 1 into this small piece of software

why doesnt the program write itself to start up?
-actually installed that v0.2 newly but previous one wasnt loading itself on startup) it would make the usage easier i guess... maybe it is writing itself there but as i am using a multi usered pc.. i dont know this is just an idea
and putting that loading "gif" is nice

if you run the program and click on the dictionary icon in your bottom right corner, a small list of options will pop up where you can enable the dictionary to run on start-up.

I have managed to download and run the version 0.2 without a problem. Last time with the previous version I had tremendous problems. I was very angry with it. Now it is much better. Here are my new suggestions:

1. Delete this thread. Completely remove it. Let us and newcomers forget about the past problems.

Installation was very good. I "did" see the next button and was very happy. But still it could be improved.

2. There is a button that could be easly dropped:

3. There is another button that doesn't work as good as it could be:
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/2276/2aj8.jpg
It should work like this:
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/5395/3fq9.jpg

4. There is one unnecessary window during installation.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9625/4px8.jpg

5. During the installation it could ask me what shortcut button I want to use.

6. After the installation the program should automatically run and show itself on systam tray.

7. When you see the program icon on system tray and you double click on it, nothing happens. Double click should open settings.

8. I don't think "alt + left click" is the best option for defalt settings. It intereferes with answers.com. Maybe "shift + left click" is better as default. But being able to make changes on this is very good.

edit:
It turns out "shift + left click" isn't a good idea. I use this frequently to open a link in new window so I can't use it as dictionary. Maybe "ctrl + left click" could be default.

9. when I use our dictionary in this website for instance I don't see anywhere any word about the software. It is on the main page http://www.turkishdictionary.net/ but people who use the dictionary rarely go to its main page. It should be mentioned on every results page.

10. when are you going to add sound to the dictionary?
On this page there is an example that we have come accross elsewhere before. Find the "bu haberi dinle" button. In fact you can listen to all their news articles.

11. The small window that opens doesn't impress me. I'm happier with the full pages that open when I double click on our forums.

Thank you Erdinc, great feedback. I will go over these suggestions for the next version. Starting a new thread is a good idea as well, I will do that as I start developing for the new version. I am actually stalling on my thesis work at school, and the sound files.

I saw the news article reading feature in Sabah, and they are using gvz. I contacted gvz multiple times with all the e-mail addresses they have on their website, but they keep ignoring me for some reason. I will try calling them to get more information and pricing. Do you have any information on this? A text-to-speech software like that can be used in so many places in both TurkishClass and TurkishDictionary.
