I was only being modest...What I should have said is,
Not trusting wikipedia is one thing, not trusting deep wisdom of AlphaF is another.
The latter is a sin....

Quoting SERA_2005: wikipedia not a valid source any nut can go on there and right rubbish,be careful what u get from there. |
Well I thought so too...however, recently it was in the news that some Oxford professors checked Wikipedia and found it to be more accurate than most encyclopedias. Amazing considering it is pretty unregulated

Bravo Marion...100% + very well put. Good manners is an excellent lubricant for the running of civilization
Quoting MarioninTurkey: Quoting Elisabeth: Quoting AEnigma III: Quoting MarioninTurkey: Only point is that this whole thread allows FF to let off her negative energy at a whole group of different TC friends..... yet again .... |
Which is more negative? To say what you believe in and stand up for other human's rights or to hide your thoughts and "tolerate"? |
No one can ever know why someone has a certain opinion. Usually opinion is shaped by experience. I love that some people offer a view that I have never thought of. It is very hard to hear sometimes but if you are truely tolerant, you are open to everyones ideas...even the negative ones. If you shut out negativity from your life, how will you ever know what is positive? |
I do not have a problem with people in class disagreeing with each other.
I do not have a problem with people thinking negative things about England, Turkey, religion, me, my bookstore, my anthing else.
I have a problem with the way things are expressed, the sarcasm and the vitriole.
"It ain't what you say, it is the way that you say it"
Deli and FF both disagree with Alpha F and Umut. Fine. I don't think people should surpress their opinions.
But if you read this thread, not all of theses four can express their disagreement in a way that doesn't sound like a slanging match, not all of them show respect in the voicing of their disagreements.
There is a huge difference between being agressive and being assertive.
That is my point.
And now I expect to be shot down again for daring to say this. It seems people confuse asking them to be polite with censoring them. I am not a censor, never will be, and don't want to be. I am just tired of having to listen to headbanging arguments on a forum which had some interesting issues about folk-islamic beliefs as practiced by many people in Turkey.
Long live polite, respectful but still assertive free-speech. |
