I think this is the most ignorant post, I have seen at this site yet. What was the point to this, anyhow?

And that bunch of people who rule my country, can do nothing to persuade me that I should hate a whole nation, for the sins that they or we made in a distant past...

And the opposite is also true! We cannot be made to like a whole nation either.

It worries me how much we depend on the USA (in the UK) and how much we are becoming like Americans - in terms of shopping centres, fast food joints, obesity rising especially in Children, mindless violence (15 year stopped to death outside his school in front of his friends).

I would much prefer we align with Europe.

I personally think this choice business is more to do with what government wants to you like or dislike, not personal choice as that is something I hope you make up your own mind over!

Well, yes it is a personal choice, Libralady. It's called democracy . Unfortunately, people are too scared to vote for anyone other than the two main parties. Remember the Thatcher years? Everyone complained and you could never find a single person who would admit to voting for her.. and yet she always got back in power overwhelmingly . Until people take a risk and are brave enough to vote for a different kind of government, we can only blame overselves.

I find it ironic you shall cast the first stones, when you have never been to America. We have 10 million immigrants in our country today, what for? Because were a horrible country, I think not. Unless you have been to the U.S. maybe your watching to much tv.

I am not sure who your question was directed to teaschip? I myself have both lived in and visited the USA thanks. The most shocking thing i found was the lack of interest or knowledge in world news or current events. But...I don't want to get involved in country-bashing

It's not worth further discussing.
