Quote:

onu elimle yaptım=i made it by hand
ile=by, with
Pazarlık ederek aldık=we bought it by haggling
pazarlık et(mek)=(to)haggle
iyilik olarak yapacagım - I will do is 'as' a favour. That is true.
Araba ile gideceğim=I will go 'by' car
ile=by,with

Thanks for your reply, but I still dont understand why you cant use arak with the car sentence?
How come you can go 'by' foot but not 'by' car????

Your sentance says I will go 'with' the car but I want to say I will go by car, or is there no such sentance as that in Turkish?
in that case wouldnt the sentance be 'arabayla gidecegim?'

Also your other sentance say I made it 'with' my hands and not I made it by hand

The problem is, I am learning these and want to know what sentances i can apply them to, and if I cant why not. Please can someone explain.
Thanks again

My friend says to be able to learn a language you must first know the alphabet, however, all my turkish friends learnt english and dont even know the english alphabet or how to write a sentance, so surely learning the alphabet is not a must although obviously an important factor in learning. People also say to learn you need to talk, but believe me, I have talked, listened imitated, and still I cannot string a sentance together, what am I doing wrong? Is there anyone who is the same and if so what are your strategies?

I cam currently learning 'erek' by...ing and 'olmak'... 'as'

For example:
Telefon ederek haber verecegim - I will inform them 'by' telephone

Hediye olarak aldım - I brought it 'as' a present

However, when I have tried to understand these and put tried to put some togther myself, I have been told they are wrong and they they dont make sense. Please can someone explain why. My examples are below

elerak yaptım - I made it 'by' hand
Pazarlıkarak Aldık - we took it 'by' haggling
iyilik olarak yapacagım - I will do is 'as' a favour
araba olarak gittecegim - I will go 'by' car

I just can seem to grasp it, why is it not the same for the sentances I have created? Please can someone explain to me clearly
Many Thanks

hehe.. ok thanks. Well my prounounciation of words is getting a lot better, whenever I go out I always try to speak Turkish and people seem to understand me, my turkish is of course a little broken but I am doing ok, i seem to understand more than what I can speak but i am guessing this comes with more time.
I try to copy what i hear and i listen to turkish casettes and tv a lot so this also helps me.

seni çok saol, bir az daha çaliştim bugün.

I will work more on my sentance arrangements and suffix's.

Can i just ask, Would i be understood in most situations with how I am going at the moment? or would my sentances and grammer confuse a turkish native?
