"Pass the parcel. That´s sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That´s the game I want you to learn. Pass it on."

A great quote from a great  movie "history boys"

Quoting trip

Oh my gosh, what did I start?! I am afraid I don´t really understand what you all are discussing. But what I thought was interesting about this linguistic finding is that it means we all are tied together somehow. Maybe English and Turkish aren´t as far apart as we think. Maybe my uncle sat next to your uncle around some prehistoric fire. Maybe my uncle passed your uncle a piece of food. Maybe one of them told a joke and the other one laughed. We should all be proud of our nationalities and cultures, but we should also remember that we are all brothers, too. The world is getting smaller all the time.

Calm down

You have not started anything..

It is just the case that when someone  mentions that ´people actually have a common ancestor´, some of us just so eager to get up and say ´yes but the common ancestor was a Turk, we are the source of civilization etc´. lol

I don´t know if he is charlatan or not. At the end of the day we all coming from the same parents "Adam and Eve" [according to my belief]. And I am PROUD of being a TURK. Just like Germans proud of being German.. French proud of being French..etc..

We all know Turks has long and great history with its language. Turks have influenced many nations and their languages and we were influenced by them. Therefore , we don´t know the all truths yet. Sun Language Theory will stay theory until it is proven.

Well, no one here would say that ´I am not proud of my nation´.

Everybody is proud of what they are.

But what we are talking about is "the science".

In science, mostly you talk about the truths, which can be  proved.

As far as the sun language theory goes, there is no scientific base for it.  I would recommend you to read Halil Berktay about the nations/languages in the land we live.  Please read the articles he wrote called ´hikaye i emerik´. Please do translate them if you have time..

So there is nothing to prove in that theory. As soon as Ataturk died, the theory has forgotten.

some sections from it :

İnsanlığın geçmişinde, boşa gitmiş nice zaman ve emek var. Fantezilerle, sahte bilimle yitirilen yıllar. “Ağğ” sesinin, Emerik’in, Erke Dönergeci’nin, Oniki Ada’yı “aslında Türk” yapmanın peşinde tüketilen ömürler.

Kipling’in If (Eğer) şiirinde ünlü iki mısra vardır : If you can keep your head/ While all around you are losing theirs (Sen koruyabilirsen aklını/ Başka herkes yitirirken). 1930’ların başlarında sakin ve ciddi bir kişi çıksa ve dese ki... Ama olmuyor işte. Diyemiyorlar.

You will probably like this book then {#emotions_dlg.super_cool}

During my speaking engagement In Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico about the Hindu-Turkic origin of the ancient Mexicans during April 25, 26, 27, 28, in 2007, the Hindus present expressed their extreme displeasure that most nations in the world refuse to recognize the truth that the ancient Hindus and Turks are the parents of this world. Nearly every person reading this article has a Turkic or Hindu last name. Yet, most humans on earth will swear that they’re anything but.Right now, the Mexicans and Hindus are collectively accepting the truth of their millenniums-old kinship, both genetically and culturally. I discovered this fact on my own, more than three decades ago. I hope that through my articles, books and other writings, our Hindu and Turkic parents will get the recognition and respect they so well deserve.

Hopefully, the truth that we are all blood brothers may inspire us to stop killing one another.

When discussing the politics, many groups come out and saying that ´they are the victim of state persecution, victim of assimilation by the state ´ etc..  Kurds/ alevis/christians etc. I think the biggest group of victims yet to come out : During the state building process - early years of the republic-, many things were said such as sun language theory* or the source for the civilisation was Turks or Turks are orginated from a sunken continent called MU etc. These theories did not have any scientific backings and become a great example about even the heros can not change the sciense. But some really believed in these type of things (or lies) wholeheartedly. They are the biggest victims..

..

The redrafting of the Constitution in connection with the peace process, reconciliation in the southeast are two key issues that are closely related. We are committed to fighting terrorism. We have a strong dialogue with Turkey on that. The PKK [outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party] is still on the terrorist list of the EU. Of course, to make peace is a difficult endeavor; but it will bring something very important: pride, dignity, the recognition of some sort of identity, cultural rights, the use of people’s own languages for non-Turkish citizens; this is very important. It will also help in fighting regional disparities, which is one of the requirements for the accession process; the southeast has some difficulties, economically and socially speaking. So an agreement by all the citizens of this country on the structure of the state, on identity, language rights and the fight against all kinds of discrimination, is key for the future of this country, and this will tremendously help the accession process of Turkey to the EU. [This is] because this will allow the government to go faster to cover the last leg of the democratization process of the country, which is needed to fully comply with EU criteria.

Below is also another source about the support for the peace process. According to the polls, the support for the peace process has reached upto 90%!!!

Despite all the racism/retoric about nationalism/war mongering etc., people are humanbeings first. The moralof story is : Despite of the wrong education and years of brain washing do not change the concience of people.
