i noticed that sometimes the word kendi is repeated
eg: kendi kendime konuşuyorum, sanane? (great example ha?) hehe
why isnt it just kendime ?? how do i know when to use just one kendiinstead of two??

also, lets say that my friend tried to kill herself

is the correct translation:
arkadaşım kendini öldürmeye çalıştı
or
arkadaşım kendisini öldürmeye çalıştı ??

and how am i so sure that this one only needs one kendi ??

JUST A CLARIFICATION:

ing'ye gidecekken, tr'de kaldık
meaning:
instead of going to eng., we stayed in tr.

önümüzdeki= the coming/ next

considering that ön means front does this mean önümüzdeki can only be used for sth. which is in sight??

i am not sure what you mean your turkish is so much better than mine but i think you use kendi twice when you want to say by myself like
kendi kendime sectim= i chose it all by myself
to say by myself you say self to myself
