Quoting Cacık:
Just do yourself a favour, and research other religions as much as you are researching Islam. Giving all to one religion will not find you the answers, give yourself fair choice. As Canli said and AEnigma, things will definitely change when you are married because if he is quite strict now, you can probably expect him to be stronger once you are married. Just consider yourself as much you consider him. Love is blind as they say !
Pass me a rasher when your done !!! |
Yup, I know. I used to go to bible studies/church when younger to teenage years. I've gone to many churches (avengelists, lutherans, Jehovah's Witness, etc.) but never fit in anywhere. I don't think I could be Jewish. Some of my relatives are buddhists (but I don't believe in idol worship) so Hindu religions are out for me as well. I'm not catholic. So it's kind of like process of elimination . Don't think the muslims here will like me to say that Islam is almost last or near last religion I'm considering. I've heard of Islam before but never actually knew what it's about until I met him (so whatever happens I'm glad to know about it).

Quoting Cacık: Sorry just want to add that if he truly loves you, he would respect any decision that you make to convert or not in your own terms. He would also respect your decision to wear what you want and eat what you want although I also wouldn't bring pork into the house when I have muslims coming over. My husband doesn't mind anything, he didn't mind me getting Baptized or going to church, he doesn't mind me wearing make-up or tight jeans (IF ONLY I am way to fat for that - ha ha ha). All I mean is respect should be a large part of true love, mutual understanding and acceptance should be another large part.
I wish you well and much happiness. |
Oh thank you. That is nice of you. Ok you are welcome to visit me in hawaii and eat whatever you want at my house if I'm not in turkey (Hahaha).
Last night had an interesting discussion with him. He said I can take my time and convert when I'm ready/when I want and he won't tell me or ask me to anymore. (He'll wait but he believes that I'll convert in the future ) Since he's going to wait until that time (who knows when) he said I don't have to follow anything since I am not muslim and he won't tell me not to wear tight clothes or jeans (or nag about it). Hmmm... that works for now. I feel like we're making progress on these issues.

Yes he will. He said he'll feel sick if he sees me outside in any mini skirts or transparent dresses or tube tops. I guess I shouldn't overdo it. I'm not like that and wouldn't want to look like that in turkey anyway.
