Quoting Cacık: I think that if a person wants to cover up, they should be allowed to do so. But in all my experience here and abroad, it is those covering up that do not respect other ways of life. I have found that there are millions of lovely open-minded Turks, male and female, who strongly believe in the freedom of choice. But the overwhelming majority of covered up people say they believe in freedom, so long as it is there view of freedom.
As you say AEgnima, why is it in this area of the world, that women are always the focus of the blame ? Walk into any street here and see the 'sons' glaring at women, smoking, drinking, using bad language, but of course, it is fine for them because they are MEN !!!!
No woman (or man) EVER deserves to be punished for falling in love, desiring to wear a pair of jeans or anything else.
ANYWAY - I THOUGHT RELIGIOUS TALK ON THIS SITE WAS [U]BANNED][/B] :-S |

This thread is just about men ensuring that their women cover up themselves so that other men wont look at their girlfriends/wives. Its about jealousy, ownership and male insecurity...
|
Men oh men!!! What are we going to do about them? Can't live with them, can't live without them... |
Is this a serious point?

This is about being a muslim Kat007. And yes, actually, if you believe in your religion, it CAN be wrong. Don't you respect that?

Quoting AEnigma III: I dont understand your point Yes, I used the phrase "cover" meaning cover parts of the body. I have no misconception of hijab :-S
Canli, as I said, I respect religion but not hypocracy. I am not criticising hijab (where did you think that?) I am saying that it is unfair to call women in Istanbul "bad muslims", without criticising the men as well.
That is ALL I said.
ANyway, let the "debate" continue, I wont be joining you.

Heyyyy, heyyy, take it easy now,as i remembered in another thread, you were mixed up between Hijab and Niqab,so i posted a link for you to show you how we dress up wearing Hijab

Yes I got the words mixed up but I don't have any misplaced ideas about what it is!!! Clearly my vocabulary needs to improve - I had no idea that using the word "covered" would be so offensive or considered racist.
Be sure, we get called much more offensive things by muslims!!!

This is a problem. Because my turkish bf always says... why don't you cover up? Do you like it when other guys look at you? And why do women like to show their bodies to everyone?
See... that's really male jealousy and that's why even the liberal men want their wife covered up. Cuz they want to stare at other men's wives but don't want other men to stare at their own wife.

Quoting AEnigma III: Elham dont use this as an excuse to demonstrate intolerance to headscarfs. This is about hyprocracy.
Do you think its fair to criticise women in Istanbul and say they are bad muslims because they don't cover themselves, but fail to mention the men who drink, smoke, dont go to mosque etc?
Is that fair? |
i think I misunderstood the start of thread, cause i read it hastily, which made me remember that the previous topic on the hijab and what happened when the attacks on the hijab and Islam
well, about your question to me
of course thers no fair to say that( Muslim bad) because God knows more than us what the true faith Inside thier hearts
I have a lot of friends, they dont wear hijab and i respecte them, they are good Muslim but lacks only the hijab to be fully Muslim faith
