Quoting peace train: Quoting Elisabeth: Quoting libralady: This is pure entertainment! Has AEnigma at last found her match? May be ELIZABETH WHERE ARE YOU, this should be a news report!!!
Funny how one perceives sense of humour, and does this prove that age matures the sense of humour? AEnigma never seems to get mine either.
Oh well my left over turkey curry is ready! |
ummmmmmm....errrr.....was there something funny? I liked the dementia comment....but I do think what is funny to some, isn't funny to others. Peace train, I am watching you .... if you say something funny, I will report it. |
Don't worry Elizabeth. I'm not worth watching and you will see my posts attest to that. I've merely been amusing myself and not trying to amuse anyone else. I've never professed to having "acid wit". Dementia does weird things to people, I'm on holiday from work and well, thought I'd do something completely out of character and post a few comments. I was going to say that at midnight I would resume my former peaceful ways but as I am a granny it will be 7pm.
No problems Elizabeth, really, no problems . . . I made a few comments and people felt them important enough to reply to. I didn't make anyone reply . . . free will and all that.
I'm sure there's something in what I've said above to pick over . . . it's just a pile of old bones. I'm ashamed of myself, really I am. I stooped quite low this last few days. Sorry everybody . . . it won't happen again.
Did I grovel enough? If not, let me know, but do it before pm as I have a schedule to keep too.
Anyone found the emoticon for uncool granny ? because I don't want to be sued under the Trade Descriptions Act.
ta ta for now (now I'm really showing my age)
|
Girlee will you please translate this "granny speak" for me? I think it is a guilt trip of some sort but I can't quite make it out... It's been so long since my granny tried this on me...

Well, we speak a different dialect but my interpretation is that she is trying to be coy with all her witticisms however she is clear as ice in her attempts to knock people to the ground.
I prefer someone who will stand toe to toe with me and tell me straight to someone who is fake in their kindly old granny ways..... full of sweetness while veiling their poisonous words.

Quoting alameda: Quoting femme_fatal: i mean why some people can justify their straightforwardness and at the same time theres zero tolerance to mine? it was just a little question.
i hate being talked, im sad im not strong enough to push my thoughts forward, instead i find my personality being discussed. kitty questions me being for less effective.
thats what im concerned about.
im not skilfull enough to convince people to my point instead i discourage them. is it my fault? |
Hmmm....Femme...I didn't realize you are so sensitive. It's just your method of communicating is sometimes very brash and abrasive. It causes people to react in a negative manner.
I realize your command of the English language is not that sophisticated, but you really have been making quite amazing improvements. I tip my virtual hat to you! |
alameda,
is that your so called thoughtful contribution that you made me wait so long?
i really dont need your compassion towards me nor your recognition how sensitive im.
why do you clap your hands towards the traditons/customs/religions that opress us?
why are you so mindless?
why dont you look beneath all the culture and then speak your mind?
you betrayed us, alameda.
you prefered to pretend and play a wise aunt from the west whos "cultural" and polite and supports the culture difference where some people may suffer from a huge intolerance and lack of freedom or unequal treatment.
thank you for selling us for your own convinient position.

No, you read the wrong post...my response was here:

Now on to the grim realities of the female situation.
Women can best increase their status by consciousness raising, by making men realize how much better life is with female cooperation.
I think you fantasize as to just how "free" women in the "free" world are. They are "free" by the permission of the males. They are "free" as long as they are entertaining and useful. They are "free" as long as the males deem it in their best interest. It matters not if you or I like it or not. This is the reality of the situation.
In general females are smaller than males. Men are stronger then women, Boys are stronger than girls. I don't know if it was always that way, but it is now.
There have been some instances of "strong" females. I read a story in The Travels of Marco Polo where he talks about the daughter of the daughter of King Kaidu how strong and valiant she was. We must admit this is an unusual situation.
In regards to sexual matters, it's the woman who bears children. Men can have their pleasure and not have any responsibilities or even know they have fathered a child. Women always know.
The propagation of the species does not depend on females enjoyment of sex, but for every newborn some male had pleasure. That's a fact weather we like it or not. One bull can have hundreds of offspring, and that bull had pleasure, the cows didn't, but the cows still had the pain of birthing process.
Females have to be diplomatic and clever. History is full of societal changes regarding the status of females. The best way to be valued is to be useful. It is up to every female to impress the males on how important the female contribution is, being abrasive and demanding does not work well in many matters. It only works when there is a conscience realization as to the value of what is being lost.

Alameda, wow - I hope you're not saying that it's ok for women to be abused and discriminated because they are smaller...
How can you say that it's only males who enjoy sex?
Yes, males can get away with no responsibility from raising children. Women can also if they want.
Look, the problem is that women are less educated then men, make less money and have less power in the society. If these things were equal, we'd demand more equality, but for now, it's them who decide about our rights and freedom. That is also teh case in the West! (for example in the US parliment, women make up only 16%)
What do you say to a woman whose family condemns her because her husband rapes her? Do you say - "be useful" or "fight for your freedom"?

This simple comment gives a really sad insight into your life.
I know I am not alone in being a woman who enjoys sex and doesn't see it with the same distorted view you seem to see it with.
I hope for your daughter's sake, that you have not passed along these puritanical visions of sex and that she is able to be a woman who is not afraid of her sexuality.
