Quoting deli:

estağfurullah please tell me about this word..

itcan be used when someone gives you a compliment OR if someone is critizing themselves, it sort of means
OH ,please dont say that !

thats what i thought..
i was wondering more about its origin.. it looks arabic to me...? and also whether or not its commonly used..??

well i use it and im common

Yes, as it sounds, it's arabic.Well, I use it,too but it's rather difficult to tell you when to use it without sounding ridiculous.
Yes, it can be used when you take a compliment, but not alwyas. For example, when your boyfriend gives you compliments,
-Çok güzelsin.
-Estağfurullah
-Çok zekisin
-Estağfurullah
-Beni çok etkiliyorsun.
-Estağfurullah.

It's really funny.

This kind of words should be used when you become more familiar with the language.
