Sounds miserable Alamada.  I know California is bankrupt, however where I live everyone I´m surrounded by ARE happy and full of love.  Overworked?  My gosh I don´t think a typical 40 hour standard work week is overworked...maybe you need to look for another job then.  Unemployment is still lower than what it was in the Carter days!  Even the Obama supporters are starting to question the hope he promised he would bring.  The only change I see now is more government involvment.    4 states have now passed laws you cannnot smile on your drivers license.  Socialism I ask?

Yes, I can tell teaschip....your post is brimming over with love......BTW....Obama has only been in office little over 100 days.

Maybe you need to reread my message instead of filling in your own ideas as to my life.  You seem to have missed major parts of it.

....   you are 100% did not understand the subject.  Tell me, should anyone join to this site if he/she thinks PKK is a good  group ? do you need to be a turk to call PKK as terrorist group ? does anyone have the right to kill people?

Many of those who join in this site know very little about Turkey, it´s politics, history. They are here to learn. Some know a great deal and they try to help new comers learn.  Most who are not Turkish have no idea who the PKK are and are in no way able to form any opinion regarding them at all.

Beautiful and thoughtful. I´m glad you are back Vineyards .  From my view, the last 8 years have been a nightmare. In fact, it´s only now at the end of the decade things are beginning to look up. At least with a new administration, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. I´m not naive enough to believe Obama can fix it all. This world is not run by one man, but rather it´s an oligarch.... Davos man...?......... but it is an improvement. He can´t do it alone, he needs wind at his back encouraging and demanding change....but....it is a positive change.

Yes, people in the US, are not that happy. We are over worked, alienated from our families. We have been involved in two wars; the economy is a disaster due to greed and corruption by some and lack of involvement by the citizenry. Agree or disagree with the military adventures, there is a lot of tension. We have witnessed depravity of unimaginable proportions. Untold millions of lives altered in most unpleasant ways.

Our ideas about love are confused. On the positive side, at least love, being loved and loving is the goal. At least eyes are now open and demanding change.

As far as technology, we can now read poetry, literature and enjoy the benefits of libraries, art collections, research information, exchange thoughts and ideas with others thousands of miles away. I love this technology.

For some reason it´s in human nature to complain more then express gratitude for our situation. I don´t have a toothache or headache today. I witnessed two doves making a nest and cooing because my eyes worked. I heard the dove cooing because my ears work. I saw the mist over the hills with the trees looking like an ancient Chinese painting. I saw more that was beautiful than ugly.

I don´t want to obsess on the negative. I know it´s there, but it´s like brushing one´s teeth everyday. Yes, you will get plaque...keep brushing it away.

Minn. parents agree to let son undergo chemo
By PATRICK CONDON – 53 minutes ago

NEW ULM, Minn. (AP) — The parents of a Minnesota boy who refused chemotherapy for his cancer have told a judge they now agree to the medical treatment, and the judge says the boy can stay with them.

Thirteen-year-old Daniel Hauser has Hodgkin´s lymphoma. He and his mother missed a court appearance last week and left the state to avoid chemo and try to get alternative treatments. Colleen and Anthony Hauser now say they understand their son needs chemotherapy.

Daniel returned to Minnesota on Monday after almost a week on the run. A doctor´s exam showed a tumor in his chest has grown and is pushing against his trachea, causing pain.

Brown County Family Services objected to the ruling, saying they wanted Daniel to stay in the county´s custody.

The idea of creating a "clash between civilisations" is long out of fashion nowadays, so is that old book.

The new approach is to create "clashes within the civilisations".

Why is it that it is usually writers/philosophers of Jewish origin to encourage a final showdown between Christians and Moslems? ?...extremely competitive and sporting guys Wink .

Oh please!

....it´s an old strategy that has nothing to do with Jews...."divide et impera"...."divide and conquer"....."divide and rule"...been going on for thousands of years.

What amazes me is that after all this time, it is it´s continued  success.

Today is Memorial Day in the US....all last night and today there have been programs on war.  Mutilated vetrans have been shown with their famlies.  It sickens and saddens me.

Why?

After all our years of so called "evolution", we spend so much creative energy and resources to better kill and mutilate each other.  In looking at most other animals, once one shows themself the stronger, the fight is over. Where is the humane in humans?

I have this book, as I was moving to Istanbul. I thought it might be helpful.

My review..she was lucky to have married into money here..the life she has led, is far above anything "normal" here.

I didn´t end up getting it. Have you read Tales from the Expat Harem: Foreign Women in Modern Turkey?

It covers a wide variety of situations.  I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Last weekend it was 37 degrees....now it is 08 to 13........brrrrr....and I had the central heating turned off last week....thinking it wasn´t going to get cold for a while.....brrrrr......I sit here with heavy socks, flannel PJs....my cats are huddled around a portable heater.

I´m close to the water where the type of cold is clammy, it sticks to you, crawls  into any opening and winds around your arms and legs...it crawls down the back....brrrr.....Scared

A very interesting link for all of Tarkan´s fans, found when I was desperately trying to find some of Tarkan´s lyrics. The blog really is superbly done, and the person doing it always features great contents, always up to date and interesting.

I noticed on that site that Tarkan has joined in public raising of concerns for the building of the dam in Hasankeyf.

He has added his name to the:

Petition to declare Hasankeyf and Tigris Valley a UNESCO World Heritage Site
