.........With the exception of the simplest and natural ones, free-choice exists only for the mighty and the rich...........

This phrase came to mind while reading this thread....

"Freedom is just another word for nothing left to loose"

We are all slaves to our biological existance.  Without ingestion, absorbtion and excretion we die.

After that we are slaves to our desires.   Our desires are limited by our means.

The mighty and rich are not free either, as they are more easily enslaved by their power and the fear of the loss of it.....they have less to constrain their desires...which in turn enslaves them.

See? That makes you so stupid. You aren´t even capable of thinking how people might choose a host or surfer, what safety tools there are. And no, I won´t tell YOU!

How kind of you to make me aware of my shortcomings....that must be just another facet of your generous, selfless, hospitality....but you know....I was smart enough to have not asked you.....in case you didn´t notice.  I guess I´ll just have to fumble along.....

If you don´t know how to phrase a question than you should go back to school! You didn´t ask, you stated it might be dangerous! And be sure, my hospitality is enormous but it will never include you.

Well, how would you know? I stated "but also there seems to be an element of danger"

My goodness, I could have logged on registered and how would you know? Horrors! You could be hosting me.....or or....I could be hosting you.....PukingHead bangSuper coolNinja

Don´t talk about things you don´t know about! Stick to your links instead of making stupid remarks about a worldwide hospitality group you have never experienced!

...So asking questions regarding a worldwide hospitality group (of which it seems you are an example) is not allowed by you, right? Your answer overflows with the essence of hospitality.  I asked a simple question regarding how it works....here is exactly what I asked:

"Couch Surfing looks very interesting, but also there seems to be an element of danger.  I looked at their website and it is quite intriquing."

That element of danger entails having people one does not know in their home, or going to stay in the abode of persons one does not kow.  My dear grandmother told me to never get into a car with strangers, I believe many parents and grandparents told their children the same thing....so I´m asking a reasonable question....of which it seems in your overflowing hospitality, you are unable, or unwilling, to answer.

Additionaly, the question was not addressed to you, but to the person who proposed the option and posted the link.

No it happens. It´s definitely not the "routine" CS way, but here in Sydney stays of that length are far from uncommon (I used to be the ambassador for Sydney until work demands cut back my CSing). It all depends on the parties involved.

Well, I hope you don´t mind that I (and many others) tried if the shoes fit before buying them? lol lol

....and how about undies.....?  Sometimes I see used underpants for sale in flea markets, I never could imagine who might buy them, but I guess some do.

Here it´s against the law to try on intimate apparel.  If you purchase anything of that sort, you can not return it....even if you claim you did not wear it.

More maps of Turkey.....it has maps of the Hittite, Lydian, Phyrgia, Roman....and on and on....

I´m not sure of exactly how accurate they are....for instance, I didn´t see Lycia on it....so take it for what it´s worth...

and do whatever research you want.

I don´t know if this would interest many, it interests me.

I was looking for a altitude map of Turkey and found this:

Actually, maybe the youngest generation does learn English widely, but most people who have alrady graduated from high schools do not speak English. That is not because of ´variety of accents´ or ´careless pronounciation´ -- they simply can´t speak English because they never larned it. When you go to Germany or Netherlands, EVERYBODY speaks English although they never visited an english-speaking country.

I must add that I did meet an older gentleman in the subway once who asked me which language do I prefer: italian, german, english, spanish...... Confused

You can get by in Istanbul without knowing Turkish, but from my experience, it´s much harder in other places.

What I said is English is widely taught in Turkish schools.  One can study a language and never speak it. I think most people in the US have studied another language, but most can not speak, read or understand the spoken words.  I met many in Turkey, in fact all I met,  from the ages of 10 to 30 who had some English classes in school.....and that was from Istanbul to Sanilurfa.

I often find it hard to understand some of the different regionalisms in spoken English myself when hearing people from other places speak English.
