Well, if I would get sexually attracted (so not mentally, but by my raging hormones) by a guy´s fingernail, I would go to my doctor and ask her if something is wired wrong inside me

Barba, you are female, and simply can not understand the difference in hormonal effects. There was a program on the radio...This American Life to be exact. that had a show on the effects of hormone treatments on people who were going through sex change threapy. One of the people featured was a lesbian who had testosterone treatments. She reported she was amazed at the difference in how she felt and acted. She  things that would never have been sexually attractive to her before treatments, were after the treatments.

Males and females are different.....

.......................Why did I tell this? 11 years past, a lot of memories have been forgetten, naturally. And now, scientist forecast another and worse earthquake disaster and this time is much closer to Istanbul, the heart of Türkiye.

What has changed in 11 years? Will we experience the same fear and pains or this time, are we really ready?

I was in Turkey about 6 months after the quake.  I stayed with a earthquake survivor family who taught me to always keep a flashlight, a whistle and some water available all the time.  I had never thought about the importance of a whistle, if you are under rubble it makes it easier to call for help. Keeping a little flashlight has been useful many times even without a earthquake.

My sympathies to all who lived through this. I also live in a earthquake zone. I know that sound....like a train. We expect a big one sometime in the near future too.

It has been predicted that 2010 would be the hottest in last 130 years back. I think it has already come true.

Interesting. I´m in the San Francisco, California area and we have had the coldest summer in years. It´s been around 10 to 15 C here during the day.

.............This summer the trend for young women is shorts and tank tops. Being a native of California it is normal to see women in . But, I think that things are changing around here for sure. I have seen younger women going in extremes. One extreem is that very young girls are completely covered and the other extreem is of course the short mini skirts and shorts that have become common place everywhere.

I too have noticed in my trips through the years the disparity in styles of dress. It´s like the covered are being more covered, and the no scarf is showing they really don´t want to cover. It´s like a war between them.  There isn´t much middle ground. It´s like the war of covering.......

I am crystal clear about this. If I was in his shoes, I would NEVER EVER take an inhuman decision like that and I firmly believe the perpetrators of this despicable historical act deserve to be damned forever.

There has been more debate about this matter this year than previous ones. Of course it was a despicable act.....I am constantly amazed at the depravity and cruelty displayed in some humans. It is very depressing...very. That depravity is not limited to any particular nation. It exists in all nations, given the opportunity.

I am also inspired at the bravery of firemen who run into burning buildings to rescue people & animals, the doctors in Medicins San Frontieres. Altruism is also part of human nature, it´s just unfortunate we don´t see it more.

I suppose a man will eat anything to survive, isn´t that so? ...............

I have heard during WWI time people used to sift through cow dung to find seeds and edible matter.

It can be seen like that from the eyes of an atheist. But for the ones who believe in a Creator, the answer is simple because God´s message was always the same from the beginning and people love to corrupt it, it is valid for all religions not only Abrahamic ones, God says He sent messengers to all nations, so not much surprising to see similiraties in world religions.Wink

It is amazing when you study all the major religions and see the similarity in all of them. The heart of all major religions say the same thing. It´s the embellishments that change.

If one looks at the earlier Gilgamesh Epic and Genesis, it´s interesting how similar they are.

The collective consciousness of humanity seems to agree on the existance of a Higher Being. We get hung up on names, but there are many names to discribe this Being.

The formal name of this act is desecration, and it is done to show contempt and hate towards whatever group it is being done towards. Today the fashionable group to show contempt towards seems to be Muslims.

In my opinion, it´s the height of cowardice.....and being drunk kids makes me wonder what was taught at home.

Quoting Daydreamer

I agree dead people are dead and respecting them only for that is silly. However, the actin was disrespectful to their living relatives and, as such, should be condemned. Still, we don´t know if it was a manifestation of hate towards Muslims or drunk teenager vandalism. Not that it justifies the action, but cemetaries are getting vandalised all over the world and it is usually the drunk kids who stand behid it

In the US a large part of the people tend to vote for the person with the best campaign team. As a foreigner, I remembered George W. Bush as the junky-son of the former president. But somehow the campaign team made the American public forget that the guy stuffed his nose with white powder! And he became the president... twice! Even after he messed up the first time already. Well... not really twice... I remember something about Al Gore actually getting more votes

Actually, there are many who feel both elections were suspicious....In 2004 there were a lot of "oddities" in Ohio....in particular there were many issues....anyway...The US election process is IMHO a disgrace. First of all, I think every candidate should get exactly the same amount of campaign time and resources. As it is now, it´s more about who can hire the best campaign managers. Candidates are allowed to lie about their competitors. I´m really shocked at the brazen lies. You may have read here a few of us mention Dennis Kucinich, I actually think he would have been the best choice for president, but he´s not pretty enough and he doesn´t have the corporate sponsors...so he has not had much of a chance.
