Talk about poor taste!

Israel apologises for spoof video mocking Gaza flotilla

The video parodies the 1985 charity single We Are the World

The Israeli government has apologised after its press office emailed to journalists a spoof video about the flotilla which tried to dock in Gaza.

The video shows people dressed as peace activists singing "we con the world" to the tune of We Are the World.

A spokesman said the video did not represent the Israeli government´s view.

The video contains real footage of the Israeli raid on the flotilla in which nine activists died.

´Bluff´

In the clip, which parodies the video made for the 1985 charity song, the singers are dressed up in costumes representing the captain of the flotilla, western peace activists, and Arabs wearing keffiyeh scarves.

"There´s no people dying, so the best that we can do, is create the greatest bluff of all", they sing.

I thought it was funny. It is what Israelis feel, but the government has nothing to do with it

Mark Regev Israeli government spokesman

"We are peaceful travellers, we´re waving our own knives," the song goes.

The song builds to a chorus of "we con the world, we con the people. We´ll make them all believe the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is Jack the Ripper."

I am honestly not trying to be funny....but do you think that looks have something to do with how popular a candidate is?  I was doing some research for a project and was asked this very question.  My findings were that people vote for who they find attractive.  Of course people have different views of what is attractive...but it is an interesting point.  Now back to Israel....

I´ve read studies that showed the same thing...a full head of hair and being taller counts too. It is unfortunate, really that we (humans) are so shallow. That is why marketing works so well. Have you seen Century of Self? It´s a good series. Informative indeed.

Sleepy and hoping my baby sleeps through the night.  She has been teething for what seems like FOREVER!

When did you have this baby? I must have missed that.....I thought you had a couple of boys...who are not still teething.

Excuse me Alameda but I did not know that you were "following me especially" about what I write or which subjects I write about here. Woohoo.. You are one of my fans

But I will be more careful next time.. (ps..I was  on holiday and trying to answer the questions in my columns!! And then there was an attack suddenly!! That was the reason why I was busy...OK?

Don´t flatter yourself, my feelings regarding you.  If you really knew what my feelings are towards you,  you would not like it.......but you have a loud voice that is difficult to not hear.  It was not difficult to notice your many posts regarding Kurds in the last week, and a deafening silence regarding the murder and mistreatment of your own countrymen on a humanitarian mission. Quite frankly, I haven´t read your recent columns, so I didn´t notice all your answers to the many questions...but I did notice all your comments regarding Kurds.

................ It has been a great injustice since the beining of Israel..But in the end, there has to be a solution there and that solution must include ´everybody´s right to exist!!´

But,  I have been hearing that there were people on those ships, who went there to fight the greatest enemy of Islam!! They went there to become shahid- martyrs!!

Well, Isreal is using anti Semitism as a propaganda to silence her critics. They are almost paranoid about this..We all know that..

But if those ships were full of people  whom ´went there to become martyrs´, can you turn around and say that Israel´s paranoia was  an empty paranoia entirely? what was the percentage of anti semite people in those ships?

When people protest in front of the consulates, they are shouting ´allahu ekber´ or reciting verses from Quran.. When doing that, are those people not pulling the entire protest into a war between religions?

I think we should be quite careful with what we want and do not sideline ourselves with anti-semitism .

You are aware of the fact that the Likud party platform does not allow for any Palestinian state?

"Self-Rule. The Government of Israel flatly rejects the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan River. The Palestinians can run their lives freely in the framework of self-rule, but not as an independent and sovereign state. Thus, example, in matters of foreign affairs, security, immigration and ecology, their activity shall be limited in accordance with imperatives of Israel´s existence, security and national needs."

You actually think shouting "Allah Akbar" is antisemetic? Someone saying Allah Akbar scares you? Hearing recitations of the Quran scares you? What do you think the very idea of Eretz Israel is about? Then there are the Christian Zionists....

You talk about marters....Rachel Corrie was one, as was Emily Henochowicz, the girl who recently lost her eye....I don´t think they set out to be martyrs.  Rather, they were standing up for their ideals.  Most can only talk the talk, they can´t walk the walk.  I admire Rachel and Emily. I think it´s called moral fortitude...some have it, most don´t.

And we thought, Obama would change somethings...

..........I worked as a volunteer on his campaign...I can´t say I expected as big a change as many, however the alternative was much worse.  Think about it, it could have been John McCain and Sarah Palin. The kill the wolves and  "Drill Baby drill" team.....

Who I really wanted was Dennis Kucinich, but he didn´t have enough money. He was not popular with the "right" people.

They are mainly not maltreatment of Kurds.

Most of  my recent posts are anti-racist.. I am hoping that you are not against them..

But I will post something about it soon as soon as I find time..

We should talk about the merits of being on that ship to be a ´shahid-martyr´. (nobody questions Israel´s inhumane actions in Gaza, but there is a difference being on that ship as you are a protester or you are there to fight against jews because they are cruel to your muslim brothers)

Excuse me, but there are almost two dozen posts about some aspect of Kurds, and nothing regarding the murder (of your own countrymen) and brutal mistreatment of peace activists bringing aid to the Gaza people.Shot in the back of the head...shot in the back?...but no time to discuss this....you have more important things to disguss.

We all have our priorities.

As usual, divert attention and change subject of the conversation...but....it doesn´t always work. In fact, it more often directs attention.........

This is absolutely how it happened. In order that thread is important for me i wrote my statements on the word processer and spent some time to select the right expressions. Afreall, i pasted my writings here.

I do that too sometimes. Then the way I write or speak to say, my elders, is not the same as I would communicate with my peers.  Then how I speak to children is again another "language", so to speak.

oeince, I can´t find any evidence that would indicate that this is not your work.  I am sure you have read many articles and books on the subject and are pulling from a multitude of sources when you post your thoughts.

Is it not comprehensible that one´s language style changes as the thing being communicated changes?

It would appear he worked on these statements for a while in a word processor and then pasted the work.  That resulted in funny looking text. I know my style of writing changes depending on what I´m writing about.

Many of use here study the Turkish language. Of course our style would change after months or years of study.
