I have to do my homework

Ödevimi yapmalıyım

or

Ödevimi yapmam lazım

I totally understand the necessative tense in the first example - but I am struggling with the verb in the second example

Is it:
yap-ma-m = verb stem + verbal noun suffix + first person possessive suffix?

I know the terms "anlamadım" and "Anladım"
But i keep mixing them up.. So can someone help me out?

anladım - I understood
anlamadım - I didn't understand

anla-dım = verb stem + first person past tense
anla-ma-dım = verb stem + negative suffix + first person past tense

Does that make more sense now?

Quoting Hulyos:

If "Anlamak" means understand

How can u say "do you understand?"

To make yes/no questions in Türkçe you use the 'suffix' mi. Although this is not appended to the end of the word it is still treated as a suffix because it follows vowel harmony rules.

So:
anlamak - to understand
anlıyorsun - you are understanding

This made up of:
anl-ıyor-sun = verb stem + present continuous tense + second person suffix.

To make this into a question we add the 'mi' suffix:
anlıyor musun? - are you undersdanding?

I think (but am not sure) that this would be better in aorist tense:
anlar mısım? - do you understand.

With the topic below my intention was to cover all tenses one by one. But it stopped after this one. So we only have number one. I'm not sure if there is interest to continue the series with other tenses.

There are many possibilities with the infinitive (the dictionary form of a verb in Turkish). I have given some examples and exercises there.

There is certainly interest from over here!!!!!

And looking at the number of posts and participants in the Mastar Hali thread - I strongly suspect that there is interest from other people as well!

Try Bortubed in Marmaris.

When I went to Marmaris last year I could find nothing very interesting (except cheap Efes ) and it was totally touristy.......exactly what I do not want!!!

Not to say we won't return to Marmaris as it is accessible by both water taxi and dolmus - but we won't be visiting there while we have a hire car. Instead we want to find places where tourists do not go........

So - and suggestions???
