now I see what you mean but I don't know any name for herbs.

Do Turks not use herbs in cookery???

I still think that "ot" is about the right word because "şifalı ot" is a medicinal herb

Thanks Erdinç - another bit of clarity in my mind

Just to check my understanding.......
Because okumak has a dictionary entry of "1. /ı/ to read" any subject of the verb must be in the accusative state.

Kitapi okıyorum
I am reading a book

Rule 2:
Some suffixes have 4 forms. If these 4 forms have the vowels ı,i,u,ü then follow this table:

If the last vowel is one of these "a","ı" > use "ı"
If the last vowel is one of these "e","i" > use "i"
If the last vowel is one of these "o","u" > use "u"
If the last vowel is one of these "ö","ü" > use "ü"

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is only one suffix that contains an 'o' (iyor). Is that actually the case or are there other suffixes which include the letter 'o'???

In a little over 6 months time we shall be returning to Türkiye for 2 weeks staying in Turunç (not far from Içmeler). Last time we were there, we drove the whole length of the Datça penninsular right the way to Cnıdos - we also drive around most of the Bozburun penninsular (well, as much of it as we could find roads!!!)

I really liked Datça as a place to visit, especially as it seemed to be quite away from the tourist areas. Can anyone suggest anywhere else worth going that is non-touristy??? I was thinking of going to Muğla - is there anything there to make it worth visiting???

Its very nice to see that somebody has actually awknowledged a place in Turkey that isnt a holiday resort! It makes a very nice change.

If I had my way, then when we return to Turkey we will completely avoid anywhere remotely touristy - but my girlfriend is more imto visiting tourist areas and relaxing. I would rather discover the real, everyday traditions and lifestyle of the country - one day I shall hopefully but our next visit will be 2 weeks in the tourist area of Turunç :-S

Thread: Order of suffixes

I was trying to translate this post and thought that I had worked out "sevseydin" to mean "if you loved"

sev-se-y-din = verb stem + conditional suffix + fusion consonant + past tense second person suffix

But I put it into WinMekMak to check it and this gave the suffixes the other way round:

sevdiysen
sev-di-y-se-n = verb stem + past tense suffix + fusion consonant + conditional suffix + 2nd person possessive suffix

Which is correct or does the order of the suffixes not matter in this case???
