I think weak moderation is responsible. Flamers allowed to post their provocative posts and idiots who rise to the bait. Bring back Erdinc. How do you remember susie k and ramayan? I could add a few names such as elisa and sophie.

 How can I not? I´m not as new to TC as you think  All of them I miss, always had something to talk about, debate about and most importantly be able to have a laugh with!

Also bod and gezbelle!

It´s like the dead end of a wild western around here all of a sudden. COME BACK! Cry

Sory to reply a little late but yes she does have to. It´s not about the Turkish passport or about the passport holder at all. it´s about country you are travelling to - Egypt in this case - and it´s regulations. Most countries have this 6 month policy but not all do. But Egypt is one of them.

Ooooh I read about this and was shocked! How could they not know who and for what purpose they are "lending" such a boat to! {#emotions_dlg.noway} And who can really believe now that they were not also involved (for reaons I don´t know - money perhaps) but if no-one were to be punished for this then it´s insane! {#emotions_dlg.you_crazy}

Interesting thread.  It started as a question about men and turned into a defense of feminism.  Why is it that everytime someone makes a comment about men, whether it be good, bad, or humorous, women must defend their rights as equals?!

 Nothing quite like a good banter on TC though eh? {#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

Quoting Daydreamer

Do you have any two-year-olds out there? Mine recently scratched my whole collection of Black Adder so extensively that all I could do was to throw it away Cry

 No but I have a 6 year old Daydreamer (not to mention one on the way!) and she is a nightmare with DVD´s (eventhough they are her own). They are either out of the case and on the floor amongst her teddies or in different cases but she soon learns that when they get scratched they don´t work so she has no choice but to take care of them

very, very,  VERY bored...

what were ´they´ doing to your dvds busyb? attacking them with knives??

Well I left a few things behind at my mother´s house when I was moving and now that i´ve decided to go and collect the rest was when I found my DVD out of it´s case and scratched to pieces they don´t take good care of things and to make it worse it´s not even their own items!

My fascination with the Turkish culture is that I cannot seem to wrap my head around the patriarchal society and how it continues to exist in this modern world.  Not that the Turks are alone in this, but I have recently met and socialize with a few Turkish men who seem to have such an ingrained way of referring to a woman’s “place” whilst continuing to gawk and admire strong, successful (and beautifully shaven) women in western society.  Their verbalized thoughts are simply that those amazing women are wonderful (and oh-so fantasy worthy), but never ‘good enough’ to take as a wife.  Go figure!  It’s like saying that filet minion is an amazing piece of meat, but I would never dream of eating it!

Anyway, hats-off to all you women out there that are independent, strong and self-sufficient.  Should you look for a spouse (aka partner-in-life) that meets your criteria – may he lead, follow or get the heck out of your way!

As much as I agree with this comment I must say it´s one thing I quite like about going to different countries. For example, male turkish friends of mine remain ONLY friends for the reason you stated (i´m not their wife material). I´m not saying i´m fantasy worthy (far from it!) but i´m not "their type of wife/meal" and so therefore I can have them as friends without having to think they may be interested or want something more etc.

It kind of goes back to the post "male-female friendships in Turkey" and I can honestly say I do have turkish friends that are male. I´ve even been invited to play some basketball - and I would say that is far from a womans idea of a date! {#emotions_dlg.lol}
