yah.. wev got skype.. but its not the same as using an actual phone is it?[/QUOTE:
yes, in my opinion it is. I use it to call my family in Poland. there is an option 'conference call' which makes me able to have a chat with both brothers at the same time even though they live in different cities. sometimes there may be problem with connection quality but it depends on your internet connection speed I guess.

I agree with what kristy said about religion. if you treat it seriously you can't convert only to fulfil family's condition. but I'm not sure if example of kristy's marriage with muslim man is right in this situation. as far as I know Muslim can marry Christian or Jewish girl and she doesn't have to convert to Islam. but it's not the same for Muslim girls - they can marry only Muslim, at least it is like that in very traditonal families. I have Turkish fiance, we talked about religion many times and he never wanted me to change my religion.
it seems that your girlfriend's family is quite traditional so you really should think it over if you are ready to become member of this family. I think that first of all you should give yourself a lot of time to get to know her family well and first of all learn everything about Islam. wish you good luck.

i have tried to figure it out but i still dont know what it means i would be very happy if someone can help me with this

what have you done for me
|
I think it means
what would you do for me
as far as I know suffix -ir means future
for example: otur-ur = we will sit
yap-tın = you did
yap-ar-din = would you do, I think
but I'm not sure this explanation is good

If anyone has any variations of this recipe, i'd still like them because i'll try them all. Thanks |
hi Lyndie
my recipe is only slight different but I will write it anyway
2 aubergines
2-3 cloves garlic crushed
3 tablespoons olive oil
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tablespoons yoghurt
as you can see there is no salt but I'm not sure if this should be like this or this is only my mistake - I was writing this while watching person doing it so I simply could overlook salt.
and I think this version has more garlic tase.
you prepare it almost the same way - you have to prick aubergines in few places and then grill them quite long, until their skin will burn. you are right - this is what gives "smoky" taste. I don't know how are you going to grill them but the best way to get really "smoky" taste is to use charcoal and grill aubergines under the cover. then you cut aubergines in half, took out the inside with a spoon - it can be quite difficult as they will be veeery hot. then pour lemon juice and mash with fork, add garlic, olive oil and mash again. olive oil should be added slowly. at the end add yoghurt.
as I said I wote down what I saw other person was doing but I've never done this by myself so far so I can't give any guarantee for this recipe

hi Cyrano,
Google talk sounds good.
I'm using skype to call my family in Poland - of course for free as well. but some of my friends say skype isn't good because it makes their computers work heavy.
so can you tell me how is google talk? did you try it with international talks?

Quoting Bursali: the weather in newyork is much colder than turkeys weather |
hmmm....I think it depends on what region of Turkey are you talking about. in some regions winter is very cold with loads of snow (I know that Malatya is veeerrry cold, and Konya)
Personally I love winter. I see that I'm only second person here who likes winter. I don't like cold so much but I love snow. I love long walks on snowy filds on sunny days, I love snow fights with brothers [we never will be to old to do that]. and I love skating. I love when it snows!....I even like clearing of snow from driveway.
I don't know how I will suvive here, without winter and snow...I can only watch pictures my brother sends me

Scientists say it may last for a while
İ live in İzmir since two months, this is first earthquake in my life - for me quite scary. Not only for me - after yesterday's strong quake (5.9 around 0.45) in 15 minutes all streets were full of cars and pavements full of people. And since Monday İ see many people sleeping in they cars. Small quakes happens all the time, the last İ felt was at 15.42 (3.5). Fortunatelly mostly they are too small to feel them.
İf you want to know everything about earthquakes in İzmir visit: http://www.turkish-media.com/depremler/index.html
