i asked this on another forum except the school bit because i dont have children . Only asked because i was curious and an English lady living in Turkey replied and stated just how hard it was to get work.
Unless Turkish nationals live in or around large cities work is difficult to find and as we know many seek work during the summer periods in tourist areas then return home in the winter or try to be self suffiencent in order to survive but being english and working over in Turkey i got the below information from the horses mouth.
She stated finding good work is almost impossible and the only "sure" way of employment is from your employer relocating you to Turkey, setting up your own business which is very expensive or because you are english speaking you will for sure find work in resturants or simular but this is only seasonal thats if you live in the right region.
she was lucky as she is in the estate agent trade and because she is english speaking she was relocated to a turkish office for english people wanting to buy property in turkey.
Because you two are english speaking, work could be easier to find but your turkish language skills will have to be sufficent to be able to deal with turkih nationals who dont speak english within the role of employment you seek.
I hope this has aided you just little, as i say its not my experience but from a lady whom ive got to know from another forum
Jackie

a residency visa is obtainable even without being married..maybe you are referring to citizenship :-S if so, then a minimum if two years i believe:-S has to pass in order for you to eligible for citizenship.
if you have children together(legitamised children i.e. within the marriage, names on birth certificate etc) then this is reduced and sometimes waived.
