Hi all,
As I try and visit my girlfriend in Istanbul as much as I can I try and find the best deals on flights and am constantly reading about the price of air travel will go up in the months of January 2007 because of pollution apsects the ordinary traveller like myself will be made to pay more for my flight to my regular destination Turkey to cover this aspect I have a little concern over this but not too much so I was then surprised to see the same flight I booked to Istanbul in January 2007 £30 cheaper with British airways the same dates and times but two weeks later cut in price. I did alot of careful travel agent checking to be told to book early for next year because of the pollution issue meaning flights were to become much more expensive starting the new year 2007, upon this advice I booked with British Airways and was pleased to get it at a decent price but the only two weeks later discover they slashed the price by £30 why? surely the price should have increased not gone down. I then realised that unfortunately due to bad weather which of course is the right circumstances not to fly there will be a backlog of flights delays and cancellations, British airways cunning plan to drop the price fearing they would lose money because of the flight problems and adverse weather conditions that maybe alot of people would not book after this period namely Jan 2007. I rely on cheap flights as I only work part-time and I have wrote to British airways about this sudden drop in price and for them only to explain to me the reason why that is all I want. When travel agents advise you about this then you rush to get your ticket fearing a huge increase in the new year you can feel a little agrieved. I am sorry to go on my soapbox but for everyone who has read this all the way through the good news is book now for January- February 2007 with British airways you can get a direct flight from Heathrow to Istanbul for just £127 return check out Expedia.co.uk

P.S As I wrote this message B.A have not advertised these flights now there is something amiss?

Hi Robyn,
Yes you are right the only downside to this was they only fly to Sabiha Gökçen Airport (Asian side) and the time is about 6.40 a.m. from Stansted London airport so with no transport you have to rely on your friends or relatives to get you there

oof has anyone watched the british news about the flights? Heathrow is the worst effected. Over 40,000 people will miss their flights because of the fog!
And they will have to see cleary for at least 600ft before they can return to near to normal.
I couldn't believe it people were sleeping outside the airport in tents! They must be freezing, it is -1 or lower at night in the UK!

Oof what a miserable christmas for them

I can't believe Heathrow Airport has cancelled all domestic flights I know they have to be safe obviously but how disappointing to those who are wanting to fly.
