I want to visit turkey in sept. I am from usa. this will be my first time traveling out of usa other than mexico and canada. Can someone help me with some questions i have? I want to know if i need a visa to go there, or is passport enough and if i DO need one, what should i expect? also, in your opinions, is it better to buy plane ticket from travel agent or fly by the seat of my pants and buy online? THanks so much for your help!

When we went in spring we bought our visas at the airport as this is what our professor advised. It was $20 US and took about 3 seconds. I don't know if things have changed during that time. I think however you feel comfortable purchasing the ticket is fine. I have purchased many ticktes online from most of the major websites and haven't had any problems so far. And I also live in US.
