I like to read russian classics. I never get tired of them. My favorites are Esenin, Dostoevskiy, Chekhov, Tolstoy and many others.
Lately I read Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "The Five People you Meet in Heaven".

So many of them...Jonathan Carrol, Margareth Atwood - especially her amazing "Handsmaid's Tale," lots of Polish writers: Kosiński, Hłasko..but generally I love poetry, Erica Jong, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Anna Achmatova...

As for something lighter I choose Graham Masterton, Stephen King and the funniest series ever, something that makes me laugh histerically every time I read it -Douglas Adam's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

Just check it out:
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizzare and inexplicable.

There is another which states that this has already happened."

I love to read poetry and look forward to read Turkish poetry in original because the translation is not same I think. Wish that time will come soon.

I also love horror books. I think Stephen King is a real master of horror. I also like Poe's stories. Except King I read also other kinds of books. I adore Jean Christophe Grange

I also love LOTR I have read it about 8 times. I also love Stephen King, James Herbert and Patricia Cornwell.
So my genres include

Fantasy, horror, thrillers and detective stories (mostly american I have to say)

I cannot stand any 'classic' literature of any description (I'm a philistine!) - I half read The Master and Margharita once and it nearly killed me with boredom. As did Catcher in the Rye, ALL of Charles Dickens works and most of the Brontes, although I could just about put up with Wuthering Heights because it had a mysterious and slightly scary element to it. i would totlly steer clear of 'orange' Penguins. I have never read any Turkish literature but i'm guessing I wouldn't like if for the same reasons I don't like Russian, English and French literature although I've tried em all (although some might argue that Tolkein is now a 'classic' writer.)

Sorry, I don't think anyone actually asked what we didn't like

Yes I'm afraid my reading tastes are exactly the same as my taste in music and films. the more 'commercial' they are, the more I like them - and if they're american even better!

Rock on Harry Potter!
