Very interesting point of view Laila!
Thanks for the comment.
I don't know if there is someone in this forum who is living in Turkey for more than a year...May be this person can tell us if after a year he would like to go back to his country.
Thanks in advance.

Quoting Elisabeth: most people are the same and basically good and kind. If you are smart you realize that there are SOME bad people in the world. If you are brave, you never let fear rule you. If you can strike a balance, have confidence and use your head...most of the time, you will be quite safe. |
I agree with you, Elisabeth..

I have lived in Turkey for almost one and half years now.
For many many years I came here on holiday and loved the country and people.
We live in a beautiful village called Güzelçamlı near Küşadası. Every day we thank God for letting us live in this wonderful place. It is like paradise.
No I would not go back to live in England.

I think that for your lover would be the most popular answer but Turkey is amazing, life back here in England just isnt the same now and I am constantly wondering how I can get to Turkey to live too. The only problem is I have 2 young children - am I really mad to think of doing it?

Quoting Laila01: But I think that I would go there for a few months, see what it is like out there for more than a few weeks vacation, and see if I like it enough to move out there
Question is....Which country? :-S and that is the only reason I have not yet moved - because I do not know where to go just yet. |
I agree with you here. I was moved as a teenager from England to Canada - I never felt I belonged there, then I moved from there to the USA. I have been in the USA the longest however I have always known I didn't belong here either .. all the countries I have lived in are great countries and very beautiful, but they are not home to me. I do however believe that there are a choice few countries that I could live and be very happy and they would feel like home. Neither one of them are in the western hemisphere of the world. would I move to these countries and live .. most definitely!! would i do it for love? .. most definitely!! would I do it without love? most definitely!! does that make me an adventurer? .. I believe so ..

the thing is that, not many westerners want to live in the east, if they leave their countries, they make it sure they want so, and they never complain about the east and live or try to with love towards easterners.
the easterners leave their countries for the economic reasons basicly. and when they come to the west, most of them even dont try to mix up with the westerners and live with hatred to the westerners accusing them for being "liberal" for being less family oriented (mainly they make up their own theories about the westerners), but they somehow love living in the environments created by westerners. and they ever dont stop moaning about their miserable lives in the west demanding for more better living conditions in the form of benefits or more rights than others (while they are free to go back to the east). they keep telling fairy tales about their original countries that how wonderful nations they are, but they wont go back. some of their generations are caught up by the islamists to get brainwashed as potential sucide bombers.

I have been living in the uk for 13 years. All my complains were about the weather and sometimes racisim.
So femme's point is not correct. smeeling a bit of racisim as well. That's what british national party would say about foreigners.

Not everyone in the UK is racist. I get angry with anyone no matter what nationality they are and this includes british people, who sponge on our welfare state.
