Hi everyone Im new here...my mother's family are greeks from istanbul and have the turkish citizenship. I have some questions which I hope you could help me answer....

My mother was born abroad but they returned to Turkey for a couple of years so she was listed at the turkish registry but does not have the turkish citizenship she has greek and canadian one

The question is this: how could my mother and I get the citizenship as well? do we need to keep only the turkish one and leave the greek one? since she is listed on the turkish registry wouldnt it be easier for her to obtain it or does she has to go through court?

Thank you very much for all your answers

Hi Effie

As far as I know you will have to check with the canadian/greek embasseys to see wheather or not they allow multiple citizenships. The rest I don't know much about, that I think needs a turkish citizen.

Happy new year

There should be no reason why you can not get Turkish citizenship. I do not think you will be asked to give up your Greek or Canadian citizenships either.

This forum however is not likely to provide you with an exact and conclusive reply.

Why dont you drop in the nearest Turkish Embassy and have a first hand chat with the responsible officer there?
