You could try www.flypgs.com too, see if they have cheaper planetickets.

Quoting SERA_2005:

Libralady, don't go by bus if you can help it.There are a number of domestic Turkish Airlines thats you might be able to try to get a cheap flight with.Shop around and i would only go by bus as a last resort, takes about 6 hours from ist to Ank.Goodluck!

The bus is ok.I have travelled like that a number of times but for ease and speed flying is probably a better option.

I pretty much enjoy going by bus too (not all of the time fully packed with suitcase in a 10 hour bus ofcourse..) maybe it is because I live in a country where you can travel the entire country in a couple of hours, and distances like İstanbul-Izmir,-Ankara are comparable to driving to Paris, Berlin or London from my home. So I enjoy the fact of being in this vaste country. Maybe it is because my first experience in Turkey all by myself was a trip at the age of 17, on a bus that crossed the water..

I travel with Nilüfer and they are really good. They are cheap and provide good service. But a plane ride is only an hour and therefore very tempting
